@MartinDotNet Why? Surprising to hear someone migrate to php. Changing languages/frameworks in general without really clear reasons and benefits is a recipe for failure.

@ChelseaRulezzz @inkedtater @chilltechbruh @antonia_mdprjct @realEstateTrent As a Mormon “in the club”, I can tell you that the few friends I have aren’t because of church—they’re from hobbies or work. It doesn’t really get you much—just a bunch of acquaintances in your neighborhood. IMO, people here tend to have family so they don’t branch out much.

@inkedtater @chilltechbruh @antonia_mdprjct @realEstateTrent Yep. It’s like some private schools. The moms will shut you out if they feel you’re not “one of them” whether religious or socioeconomic etc. But you’re not wrong. I got those same vibes being there. Nice area, but integrating without joining their “club” could isolate you.

@Carnage4Life Munich can’t be that much cheaper than the US. Why not India then? Do we know for sure that’s the reason or is this an assumption?

@don10190878 @ramit Health care staffing *executive*. Staffing companies can bring in a lot of money. For every contractor getting paid $20 an hour, the staffing co is probably making $10-20 an hour off their work as well.

Do I wish I lived in a low-tax state? No. Fuck no. I’d rather live in states with abundant social services, voting rights, women’s rights, labor rights, environmental protection, LGBTQ+ rights, plentiful public spaces, longer lifespans with a higher quality of life, diverse opportunities in public education, assistance for the homeless and less advantaged, higher taxes on the rich (including me), growing public transportation, low crime, and an educated workforce
You know, states in America’s heartland, like California and New York

@GergelyOrosz Hmm I’m hesitant to assign some genius reasoning behind his behavior. People did that for trump but the more we learn, the more we realize that a lot of that was just anger/impulsivity. I think Elon is similar.

Publicly insulting advertisers means even fewer will advertise here because there is no upside if they are trashed later.
We know this guy understands business. He’s smart. So it’s clear he *wants* no major advertisers here & is doing everything to ensure this happens.
But why?

@GergelyOrosz There needs to be some sort of biometric based check for human-ness—Face ID or finger print scan or something that the OS provides. I’ve had captchas that actually take thought to solve and are so annoying.

@maklelan By that logic, it sounds like you could entirely pick and choose what parts of the constitution to uphold or not when convenient to prove a point. So does the constitution have any meaning to you, or is your point here that it we should officially ignore it now?

When my kids friends come over that live in houses that restrict sweets (we don't at all*), they will do CRAZY things like eat half a box of Oreos, 4 Twinkies, and some Trolli candies in a matter of an hour or two.
It's super insane to me, and I've had to start watching them closely and warning my kids not to let their friends do that because it's bad for them.
*we've never restricted sweets. We would if my kids abused it, but they really don't. And they're all a little on the skinny side. This is may be unique to my kids.

@TikTokInvestors Cash flow $500 per property? I feel like that’s assuming every real estate deal you make is a *great* deal.

@GergelyOrosz I was skeptical at first but have become a huge fan of Meta’s OnDemand cloud based dev envs.

@SLCPaladin Sorry for the late reply but I guess I'm curious why you feel you can draw a relationship between CA home prices and churches' tax exempt status. Is there data to back up this idea that churches are creating "market distortions" in housing markets?
English

@ccnokes But this theory has come under critique, and I happen to disagree with it. To me, all this means is that institutions that were well-suited for one period might not have evolved to be modern day. The church's institutions today look nothing like it did in frontier America.

My wife and I watched the 60 Minutes segment on Ensign Peak, the investment arm for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (a.k.a. the Mormons).
This is a 🧵 about taxation, wealth, housing, and religious tax exemption.

@JeanneBoisineau @Carnage4Life The story here is she acted like a moron in a company wide meeting. Still juicy and entertaining but the "she keeps her bonus and denies everyone else" story is imagined as of yet. We'll see in the company's upcoming filings if that actually turns out to be the case.
English

@JeanneBoisineau @Carnage4Life So the way I understand this is staff is worried about not getting *2023* bonuses which haven't been paid out yet, including to execs. There's no "she keeps her bonus and denies everyone else" story here that I can see. Again, not defending her, just trying to find the truth. 🙄
