@AlgebraFact I had a summer job as an engineering undergrad where I had to do this (solve for the intersection of several hyperboloids in 3-space). I spent two weeks trying to find the answer before I found someone smart enough to tell me to read up on Newton's Method and approximate it.

Student: We’ve learned how to solve polynomial equations in one variable, and systems of linear equations. When will we learn to solve systems of polynomial equations? Teacher: Probably never. If you go to grad school in math might learn a little about this.

I came across my personal museum of old smart phones, today, buried in a drawer. I have fond memories of that first Android. I would kill for a slide-open keyboard on a modern device.

@bgalbs I just cancelled my Comcast Business internet service yesterday. Took less than 5 minutes on the phone, and they never tried to talk me out of it. So I guess that is another way their Business service is superior?

Comcast should expose their customer service reps as a scriptable service; their tenacity at preventing you from canceling their service is impressive. I’d love to hire them to apply this same energy to, for example, getting concert tickets for me or finding tutors for my kids.
