ISP Statement on Alliance to Liberate Scotland Alliances are built on trust and respect. When Liberate Scotland was first mooted as an umbrella party in 2025, one that stood for unity, where country was put before party, three groups [parties] answered the call. The Independence for Scotland Party was one of them. The idea was that we would work together for independence yet remain autonomous. Due to the Electoral Commission rules, this turned out not to be possible. They insisted that Liberate Scotland had to become a party in its own right. Eventually after a lot of interference, the Alliance to Liberate Scotland came into being early in February of this year. This was due in part through the hard work of two people, Allan Petrie and Colette Walker. For months, they had worked on a platform of mutual respect and democracy. Decisions that were made, involved all parties on board. However, once Liberate Scotland became a party in its own right and I4I ceased to exist, subtle changes began to appear in the way decisions were being made. Democracy within the Alliance started to stretch to the point where decisions regarding candidates and where they should stand were being made, not by the Alliance but by some in the Alliance party itself, with little or no consultation with the other stakeholders. We in the ISP feel that respect and democracy has now been lost, and without that, the unity we once had has also gone. Integrity in politics is the cornerstone of the ISP; we came into being to change the way politics is conducted. Honesty and transparency in the way we conduct ourselves is important. There can be no place for backroom deals where known names can usurp hard-working activists. For these reasons, the candidates from the ISP and its executive have unanimously decided to withdraw from the Alliance to Liberate Scotland and will now stand under its own name and banner.

When I was young, the UK and Norway both started drilling for oil and gas in the North Sea Thatcher WASTED the proceeds on privatisation and tax cuts for the rich Norway put it into a National Wealth Fund to help generations of Norwegians
Robert Jenrick@RobertJenrick

Britain has paid Norway over £100 billion for gas since 2021. For gas they’re drilling in the North Sea, the same sea Ed Miliband has banned new drilling in on the British side. Madness.

@RiverActionUK You’re correct inasmuch ‘Britain’ & ‘the UK’ are euphemisms for England & its political hegemony over neighbouring nations. So yes, the nation of England may run dry, but not the nation of Scotland. Maybe we’ll cut you a deal in 2055 by which time we’ll have long been independent

Why do you people consistently hope Scots waste their list vote?. Do you want us to squander ANOTHER million votes on two seats? @LiberateScot @IndyScotParty
Ian McAllan@ianmcallansnp

💪💛 What a team in Carluke today! It was really great speaking to people about their hopes and the issues at this crucial election. What is clear is that @theSNP is Scotland’s party. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Make it Both Votes SNP on May 7th

I can’t fully express just how much I detest this fraud who after stabbing Alex Salmond in the back continued to stab independence and women’s hard fought rights in the front while trying to claim she’s a victim…history will rightfully abhor her and her many many failures

Scotland used to have a Stock Exchange Scotland to have a steel industry. Scotland used to have an oil refinery. Now we have none. England does. How’s that union working out for us?

Why is Universal Credit failing to protect people from hunger? Decisions about how much money people have to live on should be grounded in evidence - and informed by experts and people with lived experience. Right now, Universal Credit isn’t matched to the cost of living, and this is driving people to the doors of food banks. It’s time to take the politics out of social security. We’re calling for an independent process to advise on the minimum level of Universal Credit, so it ALWAYS covers the cost of essentials.

What utter rubbish Malcolm and you know it. (1) Scotland does NOT have a deficit as it cannot legally (under UK/English constitution) have one. (2) Any deficit that would be asked of Scotland post independence would met with demands for share of UK/English assets. Check mate.
