My book is out! It is about emerging technology, the future of warfare, the erosion of U.S. military dominance, how to reimagine our national defense, and how the political system we have can produce the new military we need. Please pick up a copy: amazon.com/Kill-Chain-Def…

I’d like to believe that somewhere beyond space and time, my old boss, John McCain, watched his old friend Joe Biden deliver that beautiful tribute to the idea of America and his call to unity and duty with a smiling face, misty eyes & a hopeful heart. God Bless President Biden

This is a convenient lie the Pentagon has told itself to excuse two decades of investing in legacy, wasting assets. It's embarrassing to see the Secretary of Defense repeat it.
Archive: Dr. Mark T. Esper@EsperDoD

For nearly two decades the US concentrated on violent extremist organizations in low intensity conflicts that left us less focused and prepared for a fight against near peer adversaries. In the last decade, the Department was crippled by the devastating effects of sequestration.

.@jaketapper the implications of who knew what/when on the Russia bounty intel are concerning: if the IC didn’t brief the White House, that’s a problem. If the NSC had it & didn’t brief it, that’s also a problem. If the White House was briefed & didn’t act, that's unconscionable.

Katie Wheelbarger & Elaine McCusker are two of the finest, most dedicated public servants I've ever worked with. They're also women. They should have been retained & promoted, not driven out of government. This was a pass/fail test. The White House failed. cnn.com/2020/06/18/pol…

A must read from Lt. Gen. Vincent Stewart (USMC, Ret.): “The horrifying image of an officer placing his knee on the neck of George Floyd on May 25 has seized my every thought and action since, and has convinced me that I can no longer be silent.” taskandpurpose-com.cdn.ampproject.org/c/s/taskandpur…

@cdbrose “Traditionally” they are named after generals, not MOH winners.

What to rename US military bases named after Confederate soldiers? In the course of US history, 89 black Americans have received the Medal of Honor. One man, Robert Augustus Sweeney (a sailor), received it twice. That group of heroes would be a pretty good place to start.
Robbie Gramer@RobbieGramer

Who are some underrated military commanders in US history that deserve more bases named after them? My votes are Ridgeway & OP Smith from Korea, Truscott & Spruance from WWII, Joshua Chamberlain from Civil War, and Nathaniel Greene from Revolutionary War

Just finished this book by ⁦@cdbrose⁩. If you want to know why defense analysts are sounding the alarm about China, give it a read. The book is also a frightening account of the dysfunction at the Pentagon and inside the beltway. We’ve got our work cut out for us, folks.

Way to go @SASCMajority @SASCDems! I worked on SASC for a decade and know about how defense bills become laws. Mark my words: this provision on Confederate-named military bases will become law, whether Trump signs it or not. John McCain would be proud! rollcall.com/2020/06/10/sen…

A passionate, empathetic, revealing, & moving reflection on race in America as seen through a life spent within both black & white society. Sharing, listening to, and being changed by stories like this is how we become better. Take time to read it. 👏👏👏 @rnagarajah2/reflections-from-a-token-black-friend-2f1ea522d42d" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">medium.com/@rnagarajah2/r…
