Three years ago in Paris, a documentary crew stopped Charlie and I at dinner in Place des Vosges and asked if we’d participate in their documentary about love in the city (in a fake proposal scene on the Siene). It rained, we cancelled, laughed about it, and moved on (I did).
This week, in Paris with my family, we ran into two of the documentary crew members at dinner — "in Europe from LA for a similar project". We talk, they mention that they’re filming the next day — and invite us as a ‘raincheck’ on three years ago to meet at the Palais Garnier, (a venue I had been trying to visit for years), for a ‘private filmed tour’.
The next day, we get to the opera house, (it's shut down for the film), and start filming. We move through the entire building — hidden reservoir beneath the basement, grand staircase (and I’m asking my best questions).
Finally, we reach Napoleon’s suite at the opera: there’s a red leather journal, Charlie’s family, and as it turns out — no second documentary.
So . . . it’s a yes.
