When we leave MA ( which feels inevitable) & people ask why I’m just going to share this 🧵. In a decade or so, it will be obvious who suffered as a child under restrictive measures which provided no better outcomes vs. the rest of the country. I’ll be able to #facemykid

For >1 year, I've advocated for the bare minimum for kids in MA schools as a member of the state board of education. Specifically, I've asked for what the ultimate goal or off-ramp is to remove restrictions. Not a single public official has provided an answer. Think about that.

BREAKING: Boston 25 Sources identify the man who fired at law enforcement on Memorial Drive as 46 year old Tyler Brown. A Tyler Brown with the same birthdate previously shot at Boston Police Officer in May 2020. Then Suffolk DA Rachael Rollins put out a news release in 2021, criticizing the Judge who sentenced Brown in that case for only giving him five to six years in state prison and three years of probation. Rollins said: “I strongly believe that the sentence we proposed – 10 to 12 years followed by five years of probation – was appropriate for the level of brazen violence committed. Of equal concern is the imposition of concurrent sentences for a prior and separate violent assault on a ​different member of our community.”

This may have flown under your radar, but NCLA settled a very important civil liberties and privacy case last week. In Wright v. Goldstein, NCLA lawyers sued over a Massachusetts program that auto-installed a Covid tracking app on more than a million smartphones—without users’ knowledge or consent. The spyware app tracked movements and contacts, and in even reinstalled itself if a smartphone owner deleted it. Because of tireless work by NCLA litigators, including Peggy Little, pictured here at the courthouse after the settlement was approved, the government can’t install tracking device apps on your phone, and Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) agrees to destroy all of the data it illegally collected.
