A horrific massacre just took place on the Beirut beach and there isn’t a single headline about it in Western media. There was wall-to-wall coverage of the Bondi Beach attacks. But Arabs are so dehumanized that Israel can slaughter displaced Lebanese people living in tents on the beach and it doesn’t even make the news.

We call the police, they do nothing. The army comes, they do nothing. Today, Shem Tov Lusky--the settler who attacked me in my home shortly after I won the Oscar last year--came with his flock to my home. My brother called the police to report the incursion. The army came first and immediately raided our house, attacking everyone inside. Then they arrested two of my brothers, a nephew, and cousin. Another brother was badly injured and is now in the hospital. The Israeli court decision was supposed to make things a bit quieter for us. But the opposite has been true. The settlers have ramped up their harassment and the Israeli authorities have done nothing to enforce the decision, and today they joined the settlers in the attack.

Condanno la violenza esercitata sul poliziotto ieri a Torino, e non ci sono giustificazioni (neanche per gli stessi poliziotti che ieri manganellavano o lanciavano lacrimogeni altezza uomo). Esiste però il contesto, un contesto che politica, giornalismo e la maggior parte della società civile non hanno mai condannato tanto quanto la violenza contro un poliziotto, ieri. Il contesto è il seguente: a Torino va avanti da anni la repressione di ogni forma di dissenso con daspo, perquisizioni inutili, fogli di via, detenzioni preventive a casa e in carcere per ragazzi (ma anche adulti) incensurati e giovanissimi, processi farsa, arresti facili e intimidazioni varie. In molti casi questi ragazzi e adulti hanno dovuto affrontare domiciliari o detenzioni per poi vedere la loro posizione archiviata o essere assolti. A questo vanno aggiunte manganellate e pestaggi spesso su ragazzi pacifici e pure minorenni che manifestano, talvolta vere e proprie mattanze con esiti terribili tra fratture e ricoveri anche in codice rosso. Anche molti ragazzi di Askatasuna sono stati perseguitati ingiustamente, accusati persino di associazione a delinquere e costretti a subire un processo con un’accusa enorme che è ovviamente caduta alla fine del terribile percorso giudiziario. Per questo esprimo solidarietà al poliziotto ma retwitto le tante cose che ho raccontato in questi anni su quello che accade a Torino. Perché esprimere solidarietà mi sta bene, decontestualizzare no.
