2 years ago, during my exchange program in Bulgaria, I picked up one thing that stuck with me. Out of about 15–20 Erasmus students in my cohort, my iPhone 13 was arguably one of the most expensive phones there. I mean these were people with thousands of euros in their bank accounts, yet they chose devices purely based on need and functionality (I even saw one Spanish babe comfortably using an iPhone 6). I could confidently say I had one of the smallest bank balances, yet one of the most expensive phones. This isn’t to say I’ve ever measured wealth by gadgets, but the contrast was just striking to me. It made me realize how much of what we normalize in +234 is just unnecessary societal pressure. A lot of Nigerian youths just need exposure to see that this mindset is largely superficial. Because it is wild that you are trying to have a normal conversation with someone, and they’re subtly peeping the back of your phone to decide how to engage with you.

I just saw this video of a young man from the North struggling to show off his three-camera iPhone during an interview. At first, I thought it was a skit, until I dug deeply. Unfortunately, a majority of Nigerian youths share this same vain mentality!✍️

PART TWO! This even hits harder. Tinubu’s government has really done Nigerians dirty. Despite Nigeria ranking amongst the poorest in the world, it had the highest petrol price increase in the world. This video made me emotional! Thank you @iamayolawal for speaking up!✍️

I just saw this VIDEO from @iamayolawal narrating Tinubu’s failures and my anger grew more intense. This video is enough to spark a revolution in Nigeria, but I wish Nigerians were ready! Pls, let’s make this go VIRAL!✍️

The amount I spend daily on fuel just to move around can bankrupt a small nation.

The same people he went to twerk for & invested all the loans he collected into their economy can smell his desperation from miles away. Threw him under, where he actually belongs.
Chatham House@ChathamHouse

The Nigerian president’s visit to the UK was his latest high-profile foreign policy moment on the world stage. But Tinubu’s diplomatic engagements have not produced concrete benefits for ordinary Nigerians. chathamhouse.org/2026/03/tinubu…

@0xKachi What is the actual diplomatic benefit for the citizens? Because I actually can't see any benefits, except buying legitimacy for the current political class.

- SMEs are closing down - There’s no electricity - Fuel is 1,350 - Big business are laying off workers - People cannot afford to buy fish - The insecurity is nationwide, there’s fear of kidnapping in the air Anyone that tells you this is good leadership deserves curses.
