🌍🩺 The International Society of Nephrology (ISN) welcomes the UN’s renewed commitment to tackling noncommunicable diseases and mental health. 🔹Kidney health is mentioned three times in the political declaration, a historic milestone aligning with the recent WHO global resolution on kidney health. 🔹 Kidney disease affects 1 in 10 people globally, however, it is still not prioritized alongside cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, and chronic respiratory disease in the political declaration — a missed opportunity for millions. 💬 ISN President Marcello Tonelli: “The explicit inclusion of kidney health is a historic milestone… The declaration gives us a powerful mandate to translate words into action — ensuring investment, policy change, and better outcomes for people living with kidney disease worldwide.” With the adoption of the Kidney Health Resolution at the 78th World Health Assembly #WHA78, we’ve reached a historic milestone. An official ISN Journal, KICR joins Kidney International®, Kidney International Reports®, and Kidney International Supplements in the society’s expanding portfolio. We are honored to participate in the Annual Congress of the Chinese Society of Nephrology 2025 (CCSN2025). President Marcello Tonelli delivered an engaging presentation at the opening ceremony and also gave a speech about "The hidden link between hearing loss and kidney health." Additionally, the Pioneer Award for the North & East Asia region was awarded to the winner - Prof. Fan Fan Hou. Past ISN North and East Asia Regional Board chair Angela Wang highlighted the outstanding contributions to clinical nephrology and basic science that Professor Hou has made, significantly advancing nephrology in China, the North and East Asia region, and beyond. We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to ISN speakers Reiko Inagi and Talerngsak Kanjanabuch for their insightful presentations during the Congress.
