@centralrain_ @NotSteven01 Saying bastoni's passing from the back isn't differential just shows that you're just one of those types of people who don't like the other options that you think are right, can't accept that your perception of the player is entirely wrong.

Iñigo had an unreal season in 24/25. But in the first play of the UCL semis, he slipped, and we conceded. And we wouldn’t regain advantage in the tie again till the 87th minute of the second leg.
But nobody holds that against him, because most other times, he came good.

You guys need to stop judging Bastoni off of one bad game. The majority of his performances are consistently good, so it’s unfair to reduce him to one moment. Saying he’s the reason Italy won’t be in the World Cup because of a red card ignores the bigger picture. The real issue is deeper, the federation has failed an entire generation through poor structure and long term mismanagement. Yes, the red card is his responsibility and he should have handled that situation better, but he’s not the first player to make that mistake and won’t be the last. That’s part of football. Also, judging players only off their most recent performance isn’t fair. You need to look at a full sample of games to properly evaluate them. And even in that match, Italy still took it to penalties. At that point, it comes down to execution, they should have taken their penalties better too. He’s known to be a disciplined defender for the most part.

@Shubhamcee @NotSteven01 Regarding his mistakes, he tends to make reckless challenges in an all or nothing manner, obviously they doesn't always end badly but it's not the most desired quality in a defender to me.
Also, he's slow running back, something that Inter covers well and I doubt we could.

@Shubhamcee @NotSteven01 His ball playing is maximize when he has total freedom to advance wherever he wants with the ball and create from there, something he won't have at Barça, where the positions are much more strict. His passing from back is not so differential.

@NotSteven01 My concerns with Bastoni are not based on shocking mistakes, although he has had several of them, it's more that I don't think his weaknesses fit well with our needs and I doubt we can make the most of his strengths, so it's kind of pointless altogether

@centralrain_ Unless you talk about what, Pacho? Maybe Gvardiol? You won’t find a flawless CB. Even Guehi that looked like Mr Reliable at City was embarrassed by Brahim Diaz. The thing is not to be as recurrent as someone like Araujo.

@liabinkin It's not so much about 3 or 4, he's slow running back and has little to no waist. He's good on the ball but more at carrying than passing and at Inter he has total freedom to wander how he sees fit, with the team adjusting to his movements, something he won't have here.

He suits Barça.
I get the main argument is that usually Inter play with a back 3, while Barça play with a back 4. And with Italy they use a back 4, he can struggle at times based on what we’ve seen in small samples.
But overall, I still think he fits. Barça’s system already asks the left CB to defend wide areas because of the high line and how advanced the fullbacks play, especially on the left side. That’s something he’s already comfortable with.
Also, it’s harder to judge players at international level. There’s barely any time to adapt to tactics. At club level, you have preseason and consistent training, which makes a big difference.

No entiendo el sentido de fichar otro extremo izquierdo de nivel suplente cuando se necesita claramente uno de nivel titular que aporte cosas con balón aun estando Rapha y más aún cuando Rapha se vaya en uno-dos años. Gastar 30-40 mll ahora para tener que gastar 80-90 en un año.

Da interista penso che sarebbe una iniziativa fantastica presentare Bastoni con la fascia da capitano con la Roma. Indubbio abbia commesso degli errori, ma in questo momento nulla sarebbe piú importante per lui dell’affetto dei suoi stessi tifosi. Chivu e Lautaro ci pensino.
