🚨Zlatko Dalić, Croatia men’s national team coach, on getting thrashed 4-2 by England and Croatia’s miserable start to the 2026 FIFA World Cup:
🗣️ “This is a very painful result for us and there is no point hiding from that reality.
Conceding four goals in a World Cup match is unacceptable for a team with our experience.
First of all, congratulations to England.
We prepared for players like Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham, Noni Madueke and Marcus Rashford because we know exactly how dangerous they are.
Unfortunately, our legs were not strong enough to keep them off for ninety minutes.
Kane was exceptional.
Bellingham was exceptional.
Madueke was exceptional.
And Rashford came on and immediately punished us.
This is a team full of quality.
A lot of people can doubt Thomas Tuchel and question some of his selections, but from what I saw tonight, he has a very good squad and he is getting them to play to their strengths.
England looked organised, confident and dangerous every time they went forward.
For us, it is a miserable start to this World Cup.
We made too many mistakes, lost too many duels and paid the price against a top team.
But the tournament is not over.
We have to accept the criticism, learn from this performance and show a completely different Croatia in the next match.”

🚨 Zinedine Zidane on Portugal’s performance:
🗣️ “I don’t have much to say about Portugal, but one thing is very clear: there are bigger problems than Cristiano Ronaldo playing 90 minutes or his age. What I saw was a team full of talented players who are not willing to sacrifice enough for the country. Too many of them play like club players, not national team players.
Look at the great teams in this tournament. They fight for each other, they suffer together, and they do everything to help their leader. I didn’t see that hunger from Portugal.
People say they have the best midfield in the tournament because of what those players do at their clubs, but football is about what you do together. Against Congo, they kept passing the ball between themselves without creating real danger.
If Ronaldo received ten clear chances and missed them, then blame him. But when neither he nor the other strikers get service, the problem is elsewhere.”

🚨🎙️Thierry Henry on Cristiano Ronaldo’s role in the Portugal team compared with other strikers in the FIFA WORLD CUP ;
🗣️“He needs to understand that what is important is that the team scores, not you. This is the World Cup, the biggest stage and it’s not a personal highlight reel.
Look at the other strikers in this tournament:
Mbappé doesn’t just chase goals; he drags France forward with his movement and creates for teammates while still delivering when it counts.
Haaland is clinical and part of a system — he presses, links play, and stays involved.
Kane drops deep, makes England tick, and puts the collective first even on off-days. Lewandowski at his best always made those around him better.
At 41, you can’t keep playing like it’s about proving you’re the main man. That ball went to Bruno for a reason yesterday against DR Congo — that’s good team play. If you’re not finishing, you help create the chance and stay involved instead of running into the path and making it about your own miss.
Great strikers win with the team. Ronaldo needs to get that if Portugal wants to go far. It’s not about you anymore — it’s about the shirt and winning together.”

Maybe because Iniesta didn't need to play the world cup until 40 because he won it at 26.
