CFPB is breaking the law by not following its Congressional requirements when it comes to employee pay. The rules are literally written in the regulation that created the CFPB, and have never been followed. @chopracfpb has the choice to follow the law now. #PayUpCFPB

Imagine if banks offered to settle discrimination claims with CFPB, but only if allowed to start discriminating again in the future, while refusing to share any data about whether disparities or discrimination still exist. That’s what CFPB mgmt says that they want to do on pay.

Under @ChopraCFPB our union had high hopes for pay negotiations that would finally fix the racist pay gaps & lack of comparable pay at CFPB. Instead, Chopra's bargaining team proposed FREEZING pay for hundreds of workers, while leaving racist pay gaps to fester & grow #PayUpCFPB

Yesterday we received Management's 2nd offer, after weeks of stonewalling. Some Union bargaining team initial reactions: "They are proposing NO changes to the pay bands at all now...it's WORSE than the first offer!" "If this was a negotiation with an entity, I'd walk away."

Larry how about we try giving people money in a pandemic so they don’t starve to death / die homeless—I KNOW, SOUNDS CRAZY, STICK WITH ME!—then, if the economy “hits capacity” or “overheats” we’ll all work a 4-hour day, 4-day work week to let it cool off. Deal?

Will Biden's proposed stimulus package shift the debate towards doing more for those who have been left behind? The answer is Yes. We are going to have to watch this economy very carefully. I do think conventional wisdom is underestimating the risks of hitting capacity.
