For what it's worth, we did this at Snappa and regretted it. When growth stalled and then declined, I felt terrible when profit share bonuses kept shrinking. Eventually we just got rid of it and returned to just a flat salary. Even if you tell people that bonuses are extra and performance driven, they inevitably start factoring that into their total comp. And if their total comp decreases through no fault of their own (ie company struggles), it really sucks. It also creates extra burden of calculating the bonuses, determining what splits are fair, how much seniority matters, etc. For very mature companies I can see the value, but for bootstrapped startups I wouldn't recommend it. I'd just focus on hiring great people and paying them a fair/good salary.

Should I introduce a profit share at @SenjaHQ ? I want the team to drive revenue growth and profitability so I need to actually align incentives Plus it feels like the right thing to do Here's what I am currently thinking: - Quarterly payouts - Equal split of 8% - 12% of profit [TBD] - Available to full time not fractional team members - Paid out to those currently at Senja at the point of payout - Paid out if you've been present for at least 2 of the last 3 months What do you think #buildinpublic? Inspired by @GeoffTRoberts and @joelgascoigne

It feels surreal. I've dreamt of working at @Lovable from the minute I sent my first prompt and built my first ever app. I was a massive @lennysan fan, and now proud to say I am his most recent guest! This is my #SuperBowlLX Sunday! 🤣 If you wanted to know about the background of how I got hired by Lovable, what I do, how I build, what I am focusing on... and what I will likely be 95% wrong about (because who knows really what will happen with this AI thing) - have a quick peek at it :) youtube.com/watch?v=0XNkUd…
