@canolachristy @PioneerSeedsCA Did you happen to have any P524G?? I see it in the catalog but not much other info on it. I am putting canola on some marginal ground next yr. Wondering if the earlier maturity of the 524 may be worth looking at 🤔

What does Canola profit a farm using yields ranging from 40-65 bu/acre at current prices? (Inputs assumed at $256/acre & Fixed costs assumed at $286/acre)

@farmerjim13 Ya they do a nice job sweeping, ran air bars for years but hatted how dirty the beans got so we switched over to these when we got the HD head

@bigwehrm All of ours so far has had good color, 16+ pro, 60lb, and absolute garbage for falling numbers

Soft start on the durum today. It's touch and go on moisture. Good color and protein is real close to where it needs to be.

@bigwehrm It took an extra day or two and couple days in the 90s finished it off. Couple low areas were still tough but it wasn't bad. Keep in mind we don't have near the crop most places do. I was ecstatic they did over 20 for this year

@chad_forest Did it dry the plant down good enough when it's that green? That was one concern I was told when they are that green the plant doesn't dry as well??.

Lentil desiccation question... Kill em or wait a bit? Late rains have kept plants green and reflowering

@Plantmore1 Id have to look at where my wings/center is set specifically. I didnt adjust that yet this year. I might have to once we get to lentils tho, especially the middle

@chad_forest Yesterday we had them in very light, than adjusted to 0% and wings at 15%. Would still push dirt/mud on any little pile

Has anyone run a Deere HDF header in wet conditions cutting on the ground ? If so, any secret settings? Anyone from Brazil run them cutting beans in the rain?

@dustfrmer @Mick_Miller32 Im in the NE corner, theres still a lot of fallow in the triangle. Idk that i could get the canola to survive up here, even wheat is iffy depending on conditions and variety. But this would be the best chance canola would ever have up here. Other than terrible crop so no residue

@chad_forest @Mick_Miller32 I forget most of the triangle is continuous crop anymore. I have one farm that is. I was able to put it back to winter canola after winter wheat once. Wheat is easier, because of later plantings is ok How much moisture do you figure you need to go back in with a winter crop?

I would seriously consider planting Winter Canola in the “Golden Triangle” of Montana in the next two weeks. We’ve never had $4 wheat and $12 canola markets at the same time and the most optimum planting conditions.

@dustfrmer @Mick_Miller32 We've had crazy amounts of moisture last few weeks thats why nothing is cut ha. And fallow doesn't exist so gotta have it cut to have a place to plant

@chad_forest @Mick_Miller32 We have diverted a guy from grain harvest to plant canola on more than one occasion. I just we could get a drop to plant anything down here.
