america is one of very few countries that has even tried to build a multiethnic democracy at scale, & the fact that it has a visible, loud, ongoing discourse about racism is actually evidence of relatively low tolerance for it compared to countries where racial hierarchy is just... ambient & unremarked upon. japan (lol very obvious now), korea, much of europe, india's caste system, han chauvinism in china, ethnic dynamics across the gulf states.. most of these societies don't even have the vocabulary for the conversation america tortures itself over daily. america is quite literally is one of the least if not the least racist countries on the planet, & it's not even close.

Naval Ravikant: "You're going to die. It's all going to zero. What's there to stress about?" "Stress is when your mind has two conflicting desires at once. You want to be liked, but you want to do something selfish. You don't want to go to work, but you want to make money. You have two conflicting desires, and that's stress." Naval explains the difference between stress and anxiety: "Anxiety is this pervasive, unidentifiable stress where you're stressed out all the time and you're not even sure why. The reason is you have so many unresolved problems that have piled up in your life, you can no longer identify what the problems are. There's this mountain of garbage in your mind. A little bit is poking out the top like an iceberg; that's anxiety. But underneath, there's a lot of unresolved things." He shares his personal anxiety resolver: "One big anxiety resolver for me is just ruminating on death. You're going to die. It's all going to zero. You cannot take anything with you. If you can keep that idea in front of you at all times, what's there to stress about?" Naval reframes what "wasted time" really means: "What is wasted time? Everything is wasted time in a sense because nothing matters in the ultimate. But in each moment, it's the only thing that matters. So if you're doing something you want to do and you're fully there for it it's not wasted time. If your mind is running away, wishing you were somewhere else, anticipating the future, regretting the past, that's wasted time. That's time you're not present for." He concludes: "People get worried about dying and no longer being here. But they don't realize that so much of their life is spent not being here in any case."

@MarkJCarney There's no place for Canadians to be scared of Islam in Canada?

Islamophobia has no place in Canada. 9 years ago today, the lives of 6 Canadian Muslims were horrifically taken in an Islamophobic act of terror in Québec City that left 19 more people injured. As we remember them, we remain committed to building a country where Canadians of all faiths can live openly, freely, and safely.

if you pay attention to the patterns of your life you’ll realize everything always works out. everything always takes you to a greater destination. you always grow and the things you think you can’t survive you somehow divinely make it through. that’s life. always remember that.

The Federal government gave next year’s equalization amounts to provincial finance ministers. This map is a clear indication of which provinces are driving Canada’s economy and how the equalization formula disincentivizes economic growth.

And with all due respect to my Canadian friends, whose politics focus obsessively on the United States: your stagnating living standards have nothing to do with Donald Trump or whatever bogeyman the CBC tells you to blame. The fault lies with your leadership, elected by you.

@fordnation is the most shortsighted politician in Canada. 1. Asks the OPP and police force in 2021 to arrest people for leaving their house. 2. Bans all US booze in Canada. 3. Runs a $75M ad that misrepresents Ronald Regan, tanking US-Canada Trade Talks. Time to leave buddy.

Maxime Bernier
Maxime Bernier@MaximeBernier·
I was asked: What would you cut? This is the answer: - Abolish national daycare, pharmacare and dental care programs; - Abolish all corporate subsidies and end corporate welfare; - Cut the budget for the two federal departments responsible for indigenous affairs in half; - Cut the budget for equalization payments in half; -Cut all funding for provincial and local infrastructure; -Abolish federal programs that fund sex change surgeries; -Stop funding groups that promote gender ideology; -Abolish foreign development aid; -Abolish all programs dedicated to the war in Ukraine; -Withdraw funding from UN commitments and organizations that threaten our sovereignty; -Abolish subsidies, programs, regulations and taxes aimed at fighting climate change; -Defund CBC and Radio Canada; -Eliminate all financial support to the media; -Abolish regional development agencies; -Abolish all federal DEI programs and stop funding groups that promote DEI ideology; -Eliminate all programs that duplicate or infringe on provincial jurisdictions; -Eliminate public sector jobs accordingly with all these savings; By doing so, we could cut tens of billions of dollars and eliminate the deficit in one year. Once the deficit is eliminated and fiscal space is freed up, we would reduce personal income taxes, corporate taxes and eliminate personal capital gains tax.
Maxime Bernier@MaximeBernier

Is that your “Fix the Budget” solution @PierrePoilievre? $42B deficit is inflationary. The real solution is cutting, cutting and cutting to balance the budget, right now!
