I have been working on Obsidian Reader for a over a year. I didn't want to share it until I felt it was good enough. It's finally there. Consistent formatting for any article. Outline, syntax highlighting, nice footnotes, adjustable typography. Runs locally. Just rules, no AI.

@theo I don't understand how an editor like Zed can integrate it without any issues. Is the difference about using ACP (which still uses Claude Code in backend) vs. using your subscription to "pretend" like you're using Claude Code?

@Shyguymask99 I just use Krita. It's funny how a drawing app is more intuitive for image editing as well (even if it's not as powerful)

I feel validated that people hate GIMP now. Like 10 years ago in the 2010s everybody would recommend it like it's the best software ever, but when I tried it I found the UI insanely shit & confusing to work with. I quickly went back to paint .net and I still use it to this day.

I think most people agree on assignment (literal on the right). What's more interesting is comparison imo I used to write x > 10 or y < 10 (basically the same rule as equality, literal on the right) but then adopted to only using the less than operator (<) for comparisons. So it becomes 10 < x or y < 10 It's kind of weird when the order of literal vs. variable isn't consistent, but I like the mental model of "left side is smaller than right"

Programmers: do you have a consistent preference for which side you put the literal on in a comparison? // Right-hand side if (someValue == 1) {} // Left-hand side if (1 == someValue) {}

@Dispatch_Graph Well said. It's so hard to see a nuanced discussion about AI here, the vibe coders and the anti-AI crowd are both annoying. We can admit that LLMs are incredible tools, while acknowledging that your skills, experience, and love for what you do are still the most valuable things

Ok, I see some controversy about my LLM usage in Termina engine, so I wanted to rant a bit 🧵

I hate how agents sometimes get lazy and skip reading & exploring things. They say things like "if the function does x..." or "if you tell me what y is..." BROTHER YOU HAVE THE CODE RIGHT THERE, go read it

@kepano file over app. It should be common sense to not put your data on proprietary cloud services in this day and age. Things like APIs & MCPs will always be limited compared to having the file on your own device

Sorry to see Granola @meetgranola going closed. They encrypted their local db, no local and no cloud API. In a world where notes are managed by agents, the app now has zero value. Any recommendations for good alternatives? What are you switching to?

what are we even doing man, who woke up and thought "man I wish my games looked AI generated" It's very impressive from a technical standpoint, but I don't get this obsession of trying to make photorealistic graphics with no distinct style

I cannot stress enough how absolutely cooked CS, Soft Eng, Comp Eng and basically any tech/IT major is. Literally no one in my cohort bothers to write their own code anymore. People just hand in labs that are fully vibecoded and pass with grades above 90% and the profs do NOTHING

After watching ThePrimeagen for a long time, I can never say words like JSON, GPT, SQL, and PNG normally again. It permanently altered my pronunciation I just said "gippity" in a meeting and everyone gave me a confused stare
