Jupuaries: Officially Confirmed! Over the weekend, the historical Jupuary vote #2 was passed by an overwhelmingly positive 87%, approving a multi billion plan to expand the Jupiter community over 2 Jupuaries. Yes, that means 2 Jupuaries are now officially confirmed and public consultation for Jupuary 2025 will soon begin in earnest. Before we go on, i would like to say that I know this is an incredibly large investment by the DAO in the long term growth of the Jupiverse, and I will work super hard with everyone to ensure that the investment pays off. In this post, i would like to share what Jupuary means to me, review the voting process that just happened, and share the expected timelines for the key Jupuary milestones. What Is Jupuary? Jupuary is a celebration, a gift, an invitation for millions of Jupiter users to join the community, and a core ritual for the Jupiverse. The first Jupuary was foundational for what Jupiter is today - the largest active DAO in the world and one of the most vibrant communities in crypro. For Jupuary 2025, we will aim to embark on a major expansion of the community by inviting millions of qualified users who are aready familiar w Jupiter to the Jupiverse. With Jupuary 2026, we aim to accelerate key initiatives that will dramatically increase the scope of the Jupiverse and JUP. In essence, Jupuaries are not marketing mechanisms - they are about strengthening the core of Jupiter, making JUP iconic, and building a community and platform that can become the heart of the decentralized future. Iterating Towards Unity I started sharing early Jupuary thoughs a month ago in a rally. The sharply divied reactions and feedback from the community made me realize the critical need to make sure that the entire community is aligned and feel really good about Jupuary. To ensure that there is no ambiguity about the acceptance of the core community with regards to any plan that was laid out, the success threshold was set to a supermajority of 70%. The first vote gathered a 58% yes rate, which failed to hit the stated threshold, but also generated 12k verified feedback from real voters, thousands of tweets and messages with amazingly great feedback which was then synthesized into the second proposal. Despite the huge amount of fud, I believe that the overwhelmingly positive reaction to the second proposal, the successful vote, and the much more well rounded proposal validated the decision to set a 70% supermajority. Lastly, if we had pushed through Jupuary without the clear approval of the core community, there is a very strong likelihood we end up with a splintered community at the end of the day. Those who just care about their own bags will not care of course - but us, those in the Jupiverse, a splintered, disengaged community would be one of the worst possible outcomes. What This Votes Showed Us Instead, these votes showed us several core things: 1. The Jupiter community can support decisions that go beyond short-term self-interests for the long term good of the Jupiverse 2. Stakeholders can come together and figure out contentious issues, finding alignment in a decentralized way. 3. The JUP token is most meaningful governance token in crypto and we have the best community in crypto to back it up. Historical Experiment 1. The first where a DAO voted for a multi billion expansion without voters being the direct beneficiary of the vote 2. The first to have live verified feedback from voters, where we gathered over 20K 3. The first to iteratively work towards a supermajority thresholds It is my very strong opinion that we are in the day zero of daos. It's time to start experimenting and defining what DAOs are - not get stuck in past definitions and figure it out together! Long Term JUP Plan Lastly, utility of JUP and sustainability of Jupuary is a key topic over the last 2 voting periods. As someone who's upcoming networth is 99.999% in JUP, I am fully aligned and committed to addressing these topics over time, although it is not something I can speak to immediately. What I will say tho, is that JUP is already by far the best governance token, and also likely the most organic, transparent token in all of crypto with zero shenanigans in supply nor demand. We will make it even more used and iconic in the coming months and years, and you will be a major part of that process. 1. At Catstanbul (less than 2 months away), we will unveil new initiatives that have major implications for the token usage, clarity on how the various ventures benefit JUP, token audit and burn. That will be a great time as well to have a frank and open discussion with everyone in the space, and I promise to fully engage. 2. The 2 Jupuaries I am asking for here will be the only 2 in this format, aka drawn from reserves. The future ones will be sourced in a far more sustainable manner. I want Jupuary to be a yearly activity for years to come and I will find a way to make it sustainable. 3. As for my very long term goal for JUP.... i look forward to sharing more on this soon! Key Jupuary Timelines Jupuary is an extremely intense labour of love and alignment building every year, it changes based on what the community and project needs in the next stage so that we grow from strength to strength. We will kickoff the initial Jupuary discussion on Friday where we will share some high level numbers and thoughts. 1. Over the next few weeks, we will share more criterias and numbers to evolve towards a good point 2. The checker wlill not be up so soon, probably a week or 2 before the actual drop itself. 3. Jupuary itself will definitely be before Catstanbul, which will be in late Jan. Expectations Both usage across our expanded product range and our community have exploded multifold since last Jupuary. In order to give a meaningful Jupuary to our organic users and community, the team has to be very stringent this year on qualifying metrics, signals and thresholds. Meaning, if you don't what you think you deserve, it is not you, there are just a ton of people and volume this year! I also want to be extremely clear that the criteria for the Third Jupuary in 2026 will be very different from what we have now. The 2026 Jupuary is likely to be focused on completely new initiaives which have not been launched yet!
