# Updates to the attr() function Right now, the attr() function works only with strings and only with the content property. This module extends its functionality so it can operate with more data types without limiting the properties.

The CSS Working Group has just published the first public draft of the CSS Values and Units Level 5 Module. Although still in its early stages, this release introduces many new features and exciting improvements. Here's a summary of some of the changes.

@florinpop17 I am, but like not strongly yet At this point CSS tooling isn’t there (im working on it) so its harder to recommend for most people but as someone who likes full control & actually utilizes the code reuse & powerful selectors, i could never go back to tailwind

“simplicity” is the most useless word in tech lol it does not think what most people think it means & it’s also not the primary goal of software useful high quality software is the goal, idc how you got there

encapsulation is often a very bad idea in practice

i think this could revolutionize software quality since you are forced to face what you are pulling in

libraries would then be forced to be evaluated by their complexity rather than just feature set

i’ve had a similar idea for years “libraries as templates” what if libraries were written to be read & modified & extended directly instead of some fancy abstraction?
