@HarlingMayss @nickelpin @michael_hoerger @animeimpulse @CleanAirLA 3M said it is reasonable to consider N95 and KN95s equivalent. People have different faces. What mask offers you a better seal depends on the shape of your face. You can find masks that meet the standards and are shaped differently, but those are much harder to source.

@MXTracy66 @lukeisamazing The show partnered with police in advance, and the police can’t just recruit private citizens to violate the constitution for them. Also, them showing up at the location is not enough evidence to convict by itself, the conversations have to meet very specific criteria.

is it going to be about how the show regularly violated constitutional rights and many of the pedophilic admissions were thrown out in court because of how the show was setup? I feel like everyone forgets that about the show

@kareem_carr The higher the level of education, the more the evaluations look ADHD friendly. The PhD thesis has all these accommodations built in. You have a long time to put it together, failing doesn’t mean you start from scratch. You get to choose your environment for most of it.

@kareem_carr The notion that 40% of Harvard students have ADHD or are autistic is absurd and you know it. Students with ADHD and autism tend to perform WORSE in high school, not better.

@DKThomp The fact 40% of students get accommodations is a big problem. It means existing tests were never the ideal way to evaluate knowledge. AI made it so schools had to come up with better ways to detect cheating, and now it’s harder to cheat using pre AI methods.

This is a great piece with some mind-boggling statistics. - At Brown and Harvard, more than 20% of undergraduates are registered as disabled - At Amherst: more than 30 percent - At Stanford: nearly 40 percent Soon, many of these schools "may have more students receiving [disability] accommodations than not, a scenario that would have seemed absurd just a decade ago." As students and their parents have recognized the benefits of claiming disability—extended time on tests, housing accommodations, etc—the rates of disability at colleges, and especially at elite colleges, has exploded. America used to stigmatize disability too severely. Now elite institutions reward it too liberally. It simply does not make any sense to have a policy that declares half of the students at Stanford cognitively disabled and in need of accommodations.

@scottrockett @Suzierizzo1 Do all white supremecists have such bad reading skills? “Denial of racism” does not mean “denying you are personally a racist.” It means when someone asks “why did this company fire all their black employees?” you answer “definitely not because of racism.”

@Suzierizzo1 Gill has no reading comprehension . “Denial of racism constitutes covert white supremacy” does not mean “denial of your personal racism.” It means if your answer to “are you a racist” is “there is no racism in America” you might be a covert white supremecist.

@sivori And that is America is so kid unfriendly. Exposure to the workplace was frequent, but not all the time. There were afterschool programs and classes. A kids life shouldn’t be school work sleep. An adults like shouldn’t be work sleep either…

@sivori I grew up with immigrant parents, and that community wants to bring their kids to work with them. The family restraunt / store. My dad took me to his office when there were fun things to learn, and got me early internships. But there is a big problem doing that in America.

Last week our DoorDash driver brought a child with him to the door. She bounced along happily at his heels. Then this week an Amazon driver had her family in the car with her when she delivered a package. And, over the summer my housekeeper brings her daughter with her and she plays with my dear dog and toys around the house or things I print for her. The personal world blending into the work world is an interesting phenomenon. It is a return to the preindustrial world. It is a humane development relieving some of the alienation of work. What we want is not to be free from work but free from humiliation. A couple hundred years ago, you would have visited the blacksmith or cobbler and he would have a few kids at his elbow or playing in the yard.
Dissproportionately@dissproportion

My Amazon package was just delivered by a woman driving a Honda Accord. She was an official delivery person, not just somebody returning a box left at the wrong address. She had a uniform and scanner. What is going on.

I love people saying pagination. I'd stop the interview right there. As written, this is an 8 point story. The correct answer is to ask for more detailed requirements. If you can't get the PM to give them to you (as that's their job), then you start asking more detailed questions, such as finding out what data needs to get returned and what will be done with it.

@Syncrotron9001 @Aella_Girl Why would there be more men without relationships if women can have multiple partners? I feel the classic answer is that it’s because certain men will attract more partners than average. But there will also be women who have more partners than average.

@Aella_Girl The problem with non-monogamy and polygamy is it inevitably leads to the enslavement of men. Large portions of men end up with no partner and still taxed often at even higher rates than married men. I'm sure this crowd doesn't have an issue with that though.

I realized I was poly at age 19, and have been completely, full throated, no-doubt poly ever since then. It's been a wonderful, fulfilling ride and I have no regrets. The thought of monogamy is horrifying to me. Not everyone is like me! Ppl are different, that's ok

@Greyson2020 @Aella_Girl Why are the transitions supposed to go one way? As people get older, sometimes they become polyamorous. Polyamory is a lot easier when there are no kids to raise. Polyamory also doesn’t mean relationships are temporary, why would someone naturally want to end them as they age?

@Aella_Girl (Which I’ll add isn’t to say that you’ll get them from monogamy later either, or that you would get them later by forcing yourself to be monogamous now either.) I just think the comparison is apt. It’s “easy” to be poly and happy when you’re an attractive 19-33+ year old woman…

@besttrousers The issue isn’t total wealth by generation, it’s income distribution. The top 10% of baby boomers held 61% of the generations wealth at ages 30-39. For Millennials it’s 69%. It’s harder for the younger generations to build wealth from zero.

@devillishdiary Even assuming this is a true story, it's not clear he presented to her in that box with the tag still on it. It may be that he took that photo when he was getting the ring, and then when posted the story he posted the photo for context to show how much it cost.

Any woman will know that it’s not about the price of the ring. So many men gladly bite into “gold digger” narrative without realizing that if you look beneath surface level, you will see that this man simply doesn’t care and it shows. $900 isn’t a lot for an engagement ring, and even for this price you could find plenty of options outside of walmart. Yet he chooses the simplest option there is, and not even removing the tags 🙄 It’s lazy, and shows lack of effort. If that’s the kind of treatment you get during proposal, what the marriage will be like? I don’t even want to imagine. She deserves better.
Shannon Hill@ShannonMFHill

This poor dude planned his proposal and she said NO in front of all of their family and friends because the ring was only $900 and came from Walmart. Personally, I think he dodged a bullet.

@codemiko 92% of voters polled said they would rather have the districts decided by a “nonpartisan commission” than any one reigning political party. And then turned right around and voted YES on 50 which specifically allows Democrats alone to redraw the districts. Are we seeing the irony?

So obviously unconstitutional. You can’t void pardons made by previous presidents. It’s not even a good principle for MAGA to establish because it means a future Democrat President will just void the Jan 6 pardons.

The deal with Ukraine is pretty brutal—and will certainly make other countries think twice before accepting U.S. "support." That said, it makes America's alliance with Ukraine much stronger, and it makes Russia much less likely to accept Trump's terms. Put simply, Washington will support Ukraine because it wants the resources—and Russia won't stop the war because it wants the resources.
