This has been brewing in me for a while. (Like every time @pmarca sub-tweets all of us with lofty quotes about freedom of speech) For-profit social media companies have nothing to do with free speech. These are marketplaces. All speech on them is bought and sold. 🧵 1/11

🇭🇺 Viktor Orbán just lost in Hungary. 16 years of “illiberal democracy,” Russian interference, frozen EU funds, and economic stagnation. Hungary just proved that even a rigged playing field can’t hold back a people who’ve had enough. This matters far beyond Budapest.

@krystalball @ggreenwald Lebanon has shirked its duties as a sovereign nation by permitting Hezbollah to launch attacks on Israel for decades. Rights come with responsibilities and if they refuse or are unable to prevent these attacks Israel has a responsibility to its citizens to take direct action.

@mattpocockuk Stumbled across this and used /grill-me for the first time. Consider me a convert. All the things I try to remember to prompt during a conversation are done (and much more, and better) by default. Very impressive. Thank you for putting this out there.

@_ericblanc your movement is axiomatically antisemtic as long as it hinges on the removal of the sovereignty of Israel including its right to determine who may or may not become a citzen.

As a Democrat who has spent my life fighting against bigotry and standing up for marginalized communities, I refuse to ever reach a point where we start welcoming the ilk of Nick Fuentes, Tucker Carlson, Piker or any of these despicable figures into our spaces. They represent the very hatred, division, and extremism that so many of us have spent years pushing back against. Because they hate Israel and Jews some are willing to welcome them into OUR space. My tent is big y’all but that is a HELL NO. We didn’t organize, advocate, and fight for justice just to turn around and hand credibility to people who have built their platforms attacking the very communities we defend. Our values mean something. Our fight means something. And we do not legitimize those who have made careers out of tearing us down. That includes bigots who make fun of blacks who degrade the LGBTQ community and who blame women for sexual assault and most importantly who have Nazi tattoos. None of those are OK and I don’t understand why anyone is trying to normalize it. Go start your own party, but that sh*t ain’t welcomed here.

Francesca Albanese’s “Gaza Genocide: A Collective Crime” can be understood as an entirely formalized architecture of Accusation in a Mirror (AIM), in the sense identified by Kenneth Marcus. What the text seeks to construct is not simply an argument about conduct, but a comprehensive legal formalism through which the entire existence of Israel can be condemned as both apartheid and genocide—thereby legitimizing not only global boycotts and sanctions, but explicitly coercive “state intervention,” including military action and invasion, aimed at dismantling and annihilating Israel through violence. The argument works by collapsing legal distinctions until existence itself becomes criminal. The blockade of Gaza is redefined as occupation; occupation is redefined as starvation; starvation is redefined as “incipient genocide.” At the same time, because Israel is said to have failed to distinguish between the “occupied Palestinian territories” and Israel proper, the distinction itself is declared void. On this logic, Israel as a whole must be understood as occupation. In line with Amnesty International’s 2021 apartheid libel report, Israel as such is then defined as apartheid. Jewish and Israeli political existence is rendered criminal in itself. Israel’s existence in space—its territory, its geographic presence—is defined as apartheid, while Israel’s existence in time—its history, its duration—is defined as a protracted and ongoing genocide. Criminality is no longer tied to discrete acts or intentions, but to Israel’s being as such. On this basis, “resistance” to occupation is legitimized—including the mass slaughter of Israeli civilians—through an implicit reliance on Additional Protocol I to the Geneva Conventions, which uniquely extends combatant legitimacy to armed struggle against “racist” or “colonial” domination. Ordinary occupation law does not authorize such violence. Only through the colonizer libel—the racialization of Israel as a colonial regime and Israelis as “white settlers”—can violence against civilians be reclassified as “lawful” resistance rather than criminal terrorism. At the same time, by defining Israel’s very existence as an ongoing genocide, the text invokes the purported obligation to “prevent genocide,” thereby legitimizing coercive state action—sanctions, intervention, and military force—directed at Israel’s destruction. In other words, Albanese expresses genocidal intent—mens rea, dolus specialis—seeking the destruction of Israel as a national group, and advocating violence, including military action, as the means of achieving that end. “Gaza Genocide: A Collective Crime” is therefore not a legal analysis but a document of institutionalized genocidal incitement: an architecture of projection, an entire system of accusation constructed to legitimate the genocide of Israeli Jews.

The Palestinian-Israeili conflict is not about Arabs losing land. Since 1948 Arab states lost vast territories in wars and political collapses and no one cared. Sudan lost a third of its territory when South Sudan became independent. Yemen split and collapsed. Morocco lost control over large areas. They adapted. They moved on. This conflict is not about Muslims losing land. Since 1948 Muslim countries lost territory across Asia and Africa. Pakistan lost East Pakistan which became Bangladesh after a war that killed millions of Muslims. No endless victimhood. No cult of reversal. This conflict is not about occupation. Since 1948 Turkey occupied Northern Cyprus. Morocco occupied Western Sahara. Syria occupied Lebanon for decades. None turned defeat into an identity. This conflict is not about refugees. Since 1948 tens of millions were displaced. They rebuilt countries. They rebuilt lives. We were deliberately taught not to rebuild anything. This conflict is about choice. A choice to reject every compromise. A choice to glorify loss instead of fixing it. A choice to raise children on slogans instead of skills. A choice to turn defeat into religion and failure into virtue. No one is trapped. This is self-inflicted. And it continues because admitting defeat would require accountability.

PSA: Israel is not an ethnostate. 21% of the population is Arab, and 18% of the population is Muslim. Non Jews have the same rights under the law as Jews in Israel, and both Arabs AND Muslims serve in the Knesset (Israeli Parliament). Furthermore, 2% of the population of Israel is Christian, and there are literally Christians serving in the Knesset as well. Christians worship more freely, and with less fear of persecution in Israel than in any Muslim nation, and many non-Muslim nations. By contrast, there are less than 27,000 Jews living in all Muslim nations COMBINED across the Middle East. They do not have the same rights as Muslims in those nations. They are heavily persecuted, and their numbers dwindle every year. No, Israel is not an ethnostate. It is, however, a place where Jews can defend themselves without having to rely on non-Jewish governments that often look away when violence is perpetrated against them (Australia anyone?) If you call Israel an ethnostate you're either ignorant, or you're intentionally trying to malign them. Neither is a good look. Am Yisrael Chai 🇮🇱

There’s an orchestrated campaign to pretend antisemitism only exists at the extremes. It’s not just the extremes. It’s pervasive and we see it online and in real life on a daily basis. It has profound consequences in terms of violence. We must call it out and never normalize it.

A global society that uses “genocide” as a talking point, as opposed to the worst crime of them all, is one that inevitably becomes desensitized to it, full stop. The NGOs, nonprofits, and governments who enabled this have set our civilization back by nearly a century.

This is very important. For the sake of peace, UNRWA must be abolished, at least in the West Bank and Gaza. The UN must stop subsidizing the fantasy that the Palestinians are only living there temporarily, till they can move to Israel. That fuels war. israelhayom.com/2025/12/08/isr…
