@chaveztick
We focus on molecular host-vector-pathogen interactions and novel approached to control ticks and tick-borne diseases. SMZT and EKDLG fellow. Views are my own.

Like the Pasteur institute, we will be moving to a less polarizing and controversial platform.

I will temporarily leave this open for about a month and then make a complete move.
Thanks to all of those that have follow us!
Institut Pasteur, since 1887@institutpasteur
The Institut Pasteur is leaving X. Due to serious issues observed since its acquisition by Elon Musk, the Institut Pasteur is suspending its activities on this platform starting today and invites its followers to join on other platforms. ➡️ linktr.ee/institutpasteur

@WayneAlder3314 I do not know where you got this information from. I would advise that you double check your sources.

@chaveztick I appreciate any attention to Lyme, but as I understand it, all biting insects can carry Lyme: mosquitos, fleas, spiders.
Better testing and treatment research is where I’d like to see research funds go.

Introducing a big beautiful inflatable Ixodes scapularis (blacklegged tick) at the @ACME_ASTMH booth at @ASTMH! Come chat with our members about why we study vectors and the impact ACME has! @tamuvetmed @tamuentomology

@seemaychou No problem! Let me know if you have more. The pre-print with the proteomics should be deposited by the end of the year when we submit it.

@chaveztick Thanks so much for your thoughtful responses to my questions on the preprint!

Not surprised. There is a need to bring opportunities to all. Not just those that have the money... how many talented scientist have we lost because of income and background? :(
Paul Novosad@paulnovosad
What kind of childhood makes a top scientist? Is it enough to have all the right traits (brilliance, grit, etc) or do you need the right family too? And why should we care? A 🧵 on our paper on the Nobel Laureates. A teaser: the income distribution of the laureates' fathers.1/N

@AbahBenjamin14 That depends on grants. However, I have applicants from this previous call who I am interested in but I could not bring. I will most likely reach to those individuals before I put another call.

I am currently recruiting a M.Sc. or PhD student interested in microbiology, immunology, and molecular biology to explore the intricacies of host/pathogen/tick dynamics at the skin level. If you have students interested in these topics, reach out.

@AbahBenjamin14 Hello Marcelino, I am no longer receiving applications. Thank you for your interest.

@chaveztick Hello..
I am interested in PhD Microbiology and Immunology program, your DM is locked

This is Cochliomyia hominivorax, the New World screw worm fly.
🪰 Pretty? Yes, but devastating to livestock and also affects humans. It had been eliminated from Costa Rica and the rest of North America decades ago, but it is back and spreading North. 😬
