@gov_fails There are so, so, so many data points that show that financially life is much harder today that previous generations. One small example: In 1980, a median home cost 3.5x the average household income. Today its more like 5.5x and is actually more like 7x-11x in major metros.

Gen X here... I've worked hard for 30 years to get where I am. I make good money, and I've earned it. I can afford a $28 lunch, but choose not to spend that much most of the time because it feels frivolous. Gen Z is on here complaining about why lunch costs $28, or why Chipotle or Jersey Mike's costs what it does. I get it, it's definitely more than it used to be. So adjust. Get water instead of a $5 soda. Find a local place that is more reasonable. Bring in a lunch from home once in a while. Solve the problem instead of whining and continuing to hurt yourself by spending that much money if you really shouldn't be.

You've been on this earth for so long and you still don't get how the economy works. Try graduating during a pandemic and learning that AI will at some point will take your job. I have an MBA, multiple certifications, and extensive work history, but I am not eating breakfast or lunch to ensure that my bills are paid on time. Instead of advocating for people to spend better, why can't we advocate for the government to do the same and hold them accountable when they don't? If the government didn't print money like the mafia, maybe people like me could eat breakfast. FYI: I live in Alabama and NY or CA.
