Giving credit where it is due. while the western world Central banks are reporting losses, Indian Central Bank (RBI) will be giving a dividend to govt to the tune of $30-$40 billion USD without compromising on its capital buffer. piie.com/blogs/realtime…

In an AI-driven world, academic excellence alone won’t be enough. The real edge? Critical thinking. One simple habit can do wonders. Have your kids read 5 things daily (even news articles), rewrite them in their own words (no AI), and discuss one idea/ news article with you. Incentivize the process. That’s how you build independent thinkers capable of succeeding in the “Brave new world” of AI.

The Kobeissi Letter
The Kobeissi Letter@KobeissiLetter·
Our most frequently asked question right now: "If oil prices are above $100/barrel and the Iran War isn't over, why are stocks at record highs?" The answer to this question is simple. The AI Revolution has simply become so large, that investors are viewing everything else as "noise." Over the last few months, as large cap technology stocks traded flat then sharply lower amid the Iran War, the AI narrative only grew. The Magnificent 7 companies are set to invest over $600 BILLION in AI this year alone. And, as broader markets swept tech giants like Nvidia and Alphabet lower, these stocks reached their cheapest Forward P/E levels since 2019. At the March 30th bottom, the S&P 500 Information Technology index was trading at just a 4% Forward P/E premium to the S&P 500, the lowest since January 2019. Tech stocks became cheaper than the average S&P 500 stock for the first time since 2017. Nvidia, for example, is now trading at just a ~26x Forward P/E multiple, even as it is back at record highs. Walmart? 43x. Costco? 46x. The reality is that many large cap technology stocks are merely getting cheaper as they go up. And when they go down, they become remarkably cheap. We are in the biggest technological revolution in modern history, and even $100 oil, a 4.40% 10Y Yield, and rate cuts priced out until 2027 are unable to derail the train. Asset owners will continue to win.

Her name is Rohini Sindhuri. She is a 2009 batch IAS officer posted in Karnataka. In 2018, she was the District Collector of Hassan. She discovered illegal sand mining happening every night from the rivers in her district. She stopped it. Local politicians were furious. They went to the Chief Minister. Within days, she was transferred out of Hassan. She fought it in the Karnataka High Court. The court ruled her transfer was illegal and ordered the government to reinstate her. The government reinstated her. Then transferred her again. She went back to court. She kept going back to court every single time the system tried to silence her. Between 2018 and 2023, she was transferred seven times. Each transfer came within weeks of her exposing something. She never stopped working. She never stopped filing cases. She never stopped showing up. India has a system where honesty is punished with transfers. Rohini Sindhuri refused to accept that as her final answer. She is still in service today. Follow for real stories about people who refused to quit.

I believe more quant based funds will start seeing redemptions as market structure has changed. These strategies works well in a controlled macro environment where Vols are suppressed ( snippet via Bloomberg)

Using soft LED lights led to an 84% drop in suicide attempts in Japan. Japan's innovative deployment of calming blue LED lights at train station platforms has led to a dramatic 84% reduction in suicide incidents, according to research analyzing data over a decade. In a low-cost yet impactful public health strategy, major Japanese railway operators—starting with the East Japan Railway Company (JR East) in 2009—installed high-intensity blue LED lamps at the ends of platforms on high-risk lines, such as Tokyo's Yamanote Line. These isolated platform edges are frequent sites for suicide attempts involving trains. The blue lighting, evoking the serenity of the sky or ocean, is intended to create a soothing psychological effect that may deter impulsive actions in moments of distress. A key before-and-after observational study by researchers from the University of Tokyo (published in the Journal of Affective Disorders) examined panel data from 71 metropolitan train stations between 2000 and 2010. Their regression analysis attributed the introduction of blue lights to an 84% decrease in suicides (95% confidence interval: 14–97%). This finding has been widely cited, though some later critiques and follow-up research have noted potential limitations, such as confounding factors (e.g., concurrent safety improvements like cameras or platform changes) or the possibility that effects vary by time of day or weather conditions. The approach gains additional plausibility from evidence linking reduced sunlight exposure—such as during prolonged rainy or overcast periods—to higher rates of railway suicide attempts. Blue light exposure may help counteract mood dips associated with dim, gloomy environments by providing a subtle mood-stabilizing brightness. Compared to more expensive physical barriers (e.g., platform screen doors or chest-high fences), which are effective but challenging and costly to retrofit in older stations, blue LED installations offer a scalable, affordable alternative. They address potential emotional triggers rather than solely blocking access, potentially preventing acts before they escalate. While not a complete solution—and experts emphasize that multi-layered prevention (including mental health support) remains essential—this initiative highlights how thoughtful environmental design can yield profound public safety benefits. @SwiggyCares Your platform fee is rising by 10% every month? Festive season fee became a normal FEE now. Every food item is priced at least Rs. 20-50/- So on a Rs.300 bill one pays atleast 100 more. Is that the cost of comfort or the investors are demanding 1000% ROI?

@SonyLIV have you guys changed the terms and conditions of the premium subscription? I see ads even after having a premium subscription? Have you copied @JioCinema T&Cs? Selective shows only are offered in your subscription as ad-free? Then how can the T&Cs change after purchase?
