First run in the ASICS Superblast 3 and I’m in love.

I don't think that greed is quite the right word since many of these road races don't get much margin, but she's right that it traces back to registration maxxing. In fact, that's the underlying economics of most (although not all) modern discussions about running.

The 18 medal dropout medal controversy is dumb, because people are flipping out about the wrong things. It's not about "wokeness run amok" or some other tired 90's gripe. It's about the greed of marathon organizers. They're registration maxxing.

@Predamame If you were in the process of blowing up (but could still death march a finish if necessary), would you consider stepping off at the mile 18 finish if you were to be the first person in the race to take that option?

I think more people can handle marathons than they think [given that they train] and DNF'ing really isn't a big deal. I've done it. I think people get frustated by the medal now conflating the moments where you need to pull the plug with the cheap vanity of influencer culture.

Regular exercise is linked to slower biological aging - but only in people sleeping 7+ hours. People who slept under 6 hours and exercised actually aged faster.

Read the article. The plan makes more sense when you see the long run simulating the last miles and not first, and that this is triaging against consistency.
Most beginner plans will read like ragebait because of the premise (jumping right into the marathon) and the triaging.
