The Biafra war was a terrible tragedy to the Igbo people. My Mum and her twin sister almost died from Kwashiorkor: resulting from the lack of nearly all kinds of food during the war period in the south-eastern part of Nigeria. 1/3

Dear @channelstv @ARISEtv @tvcnewsng @NTANewsNow, please when next you go for a media briefing with FCT Minister @GovWike, kindly ask him about the following: 1. Cows taking over roads, now including highways, in Abuja 2. Waste collection and mountains of refuse in various parts of town 3. Swarms of young children, who should be in school, begging at traffic lights and junctions under the supervision of adults sitting under nearby trees. 4. The pandemic of driving “one-way” against traffic. 5. Aggressive street traders, especially the ones selling windscreen wiper blades, who insist on putting their hands on your windscreen. 6. All commercial vehicles, including Keke, that believe that traffic lights don’t apply to them. Others may have other things to add but it would be good to get answers to these first. Thank you.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus
To the people of Tenerife, My name is Tedros, and I serve as the Director-General of the @WHO, the @UN agency responsible for global public health. It is not common for me to write directly to the people of a single community, but today I feel it is not only appropriate, it is necessary. I want to speak to you directly, not through press releases or technical briefings, but as one human being to another, because you deserve that. I know you are worried. I know that when you hear the word “outbreak” and watch a ship sail toward your shores, memories surface that none of us have fully put to rest. The pain of 2020 is still real, and I do not dismiss it for a single moment. But I need you to hear me clearly: this is not another COVID-19. the current public health risk from #hantavirus remains low. My colleagues and I have said this unequivocally, and I will say it again to you now. The virus aboard the MV Hondius is the Andes strain of hantavirus. It is serious. Three people have lost their lives, and our hearts go out to their families. The risk to you, living your daily life in Tenerife, is low. This is the WHO’s assessment, and we do not make it lightly. Right now, there are no symptomatic passengers on board. A WHO expert is on that ship. Medical supplies are in place. Spain’s authorities have prepared a careful, step-by-step plan: passengers will be ferried ashore at the industrial port of Granadilla, far from residential areas, in sealed, guarded vehicles, through a completely cordoned-off corridor, and repatriated directly to their home countries. You will not encounter them. Your families will not encounter them. I also want to say something else, something that goes beyond the science. I personally thanked Prime Minister @sanchezcastejon for #Spain’s decision to receive this ship. I called it an act of solidarity and moral duty. Because that is what it is. I want you to know that the WHO’s request to Spain was not made arbitrarily. It was made in full accordance with the International Health Regulations, the legally binding framework that defines the rights and obligations of countries and the WHO when responding to public health events of international concern. Under those rules, the nearest port with sufficient medical capacity must be identified to ensure the safety and dignity of those on board. Tenerife met that standard. Spain honoured it. Nearly 150 people from 23 countries have been at sea for weeks, some of them grieving, all of them frightened, all of them longing for home. Tenerife has been chosen because it has the medical capacity, the infrastructure, and the humanity to help them reach safety. And because I believe that so deeply, I will be there myself. I intend to travel to Tenerife to observe this operation firsthand, to stand alongside the health workers, port staff, and officials who are making it happen, and to personally pay my respects to an island that has responded to a difficult situation with grace, solidarity, and compassion. Your humanity deserves to be witnessed, not just acknowledged from a distance. As I have said many times: viruses do not care about politics, and they do not respect borders. The best immunity any of us has is solidarity. Tenerife is demonstrating that solidarity today. The ship’s captain, Jan Dobrogowski, crew and the company operating the vessel have shown exemplary collaboration at this challenging time. On behalf of the World Health Organization, and on behalf of those passengers and their families around the world, I thank the people of Tenerife and everyone else involved. Please take care of yourselves and of each other. Trust in the preparations that have been made. And know that the WHO stands with you, and with every person on that ship, every step of the way. With respect, care, and gratitude, Tedros

I’ve received so many disturbing reports about IMO State University. The students extortion, sorting and sex for grades in that university is on another level. Students cannot speak up or they will be heavily victimized. It’s a very terrible university. We will identify the evil lectures, expose them and jail them. These activities weakens the quality of our graduates. We need to restore the glory of our institutions and start producing globally respected graduates that will lead the new workforce revolution in Africa.

The way Nigerians switched from Labour to ADC and then to NDC because of @PeterObi should be studied in universities. This man is going to become President eventually in a free and fair election. The goal now should be ensuring that by any means necessary.

We received a delegation from the China Harbour Engineering Company Limited led by Mr. Nicolas Liu, where we discussed the proposed Azumini - Obeaku Sea Port and Inland Waterways Corridor project in Abia State. I have granted approval for an immediate feasibility study on the project. While the company initially suggested a six to seven-month timeline, I have directed that the study be completed within a shorter period so that progress can be accelerated. Alongside the study, we will begin the process of securing approvals from the Presidency, Nigerian Ports Authority, and the Federal Ministry of Blue Economy. I have also encouraged the team to visit the proposed site to assess its viability, given its proximity to the High Sea and the technical requirements such as dredging. The project has the potential to transform Abia State’s economy and contribute significantly to Nigeria’s maritime development. With strong commitment, proper funding, and strategic partnerships, we can make the Azumini Sea Port a reality. I thank the team from China Harbour Engineering Company Limited for their presentation and look forward to positive outcomes from the feasibility study.

I’ve been absent from socials and being out in public as I deal with my autoimmune disease. My skin flares up and my insides get inflamed. I feel like a walking scab. I hurt every day and the medication I take wears off before the next injection. It’s been hard to sit and draw.

I'm starting from here so that you guys will understand when I say even with all that effort, senior talent is still extremely hard to find in this ecosystem. I don't just mean designers. High quality PMs, executive level mangers, strong technical talent and systems thinkers are hard to find at Scale. This is partially to be blamed on japa but also critically on our education system which needs a massive overhaul. Instead of lashing out at people who point this out, why don't we focus on how to solve it.

Second cohort of @risevest Academy is still on course. Expanded into design, front end and back end. We increased the cohort size from 30 to 80 people and the lessons are ongoing. All fellows of the academy are on a full year stipend, and weekly learning with assignments. And it's completely without any strings attached. Let nobody tell me that we never contributed to talent development in this ecosystem.

This cost them about $1 trillion. The truth is, you cannot build systems like this exclusively on the logic of profit. You cannot expect to break even in 20 or 30 years. Projects of this scale are built because the government decides they must exist to serve the people. And this is a problem with systems that are strictly, or overwhelmingly, capitalist. If you leave every problem in your society to the spontaneity of the market, some challenges are so large and so unprofitable that you will never have sufficient incentive to solve them.

Disgusting. Imagine serving adults food before growing children. All because he’s a man. Women are growing up learning to prioritise men who have finished growing over children who should have first claim to food in a household. Tufiakwa.

There is a reason Herbert's death pained me in particular. He has global level taste. A High Quality Billionaire. You could see. The types of things he put money in. Art, Sports. The Vision on Wigwe University was world class. Of course Access was top Notch. No disrespect to Elumelu, Otedola, Adenuga, Dangote et al. Go check the buildings they have to their names. the Hieirs one in Zenith Bank Road in particular is a wawu. Nothing will stand out of compared with Ghana or Benin Republic. No higher level agenda. No "we'll be the best in X. Just wealth accumulation. No difference between their impact on society and a lottery winner who just spends. Anyway, they are still alive and can change. I hope they do. I rate Fola Adeola to an extent but if Herbert was alive he would have upped the ante. Jut when he was getting started, e just waka May his dreams and legacy survive his death.

The deep rooted culture of mediocrity will always seep through. A classroom in a South Korean public university is finer and classier than this boardroom of a top bank in Nigeria.

Alhaji Aliko Dangote appeared on Channels TV and insisted that Nigeria needs to urgently invest in power infrastructure to achieve true economic independence. In layman terms, he's wailing about lack of electricity. You can be sure of one thing: both the Nigerian government and local investors won't do anything about this call. Then eventually Aliko Dangote will find his way around building power grids that guarantee 24/7 electricity to consumers. Suddenly, you will start seeing all sorts of patriots from Ministry of Power, NLC, TUC, DISCOS, GENCOs, NEPA, PHCN, Nitel, Mtel, Econet, PTF, Celtel and even APC, ADC and PDP coming on air to educate you on the dangers of a monopolist like Dangote! ~ Ibrahiym A.
