It's impossible to say whether Iran is winning this war strategically, but they've certainly come out on top comedically. Who would have thunk they could troll so hard?

@joekent16jan19 Well done. You're a rare American patriot who has the courage and integrity to speak out when your country is going down the road to perdition; rather than being a sycophant like most people that surround Trump

A true display of American strength would be NOT taking the escalation bait. Don’t double down on failure by committing ground troops & increasing air strikes. Show the world we can still lead by restraining Israel & negotiating w/Iran to open Hormuz, restoring order is power.

I’m really shocked how little media coverage this moon landing is getting. It could be the first moon landing ever.

Liz Benson was one of Nollywood's first superstars. The 1990s. The VHS era. Before streaming. Before cinemas. Before social media. She was the face that every household in Nigeria knew. From Etinan, Akwa Ibom. Then at the height of her fame, she walked away. She gave her life to faith, moved to Manchester, United Kingdom, became an ordained pastor, and never looked back. Some called it a waste. Some called it a loss for Nollywood. Liz Benson called it a calling. Akwa Ibom has produced stars who conquered Nigeria's screens and stars who conquered their own souls.

As some of you know, we are in London right now visiting 21 as he finishes up studying a semester abroad. What some of you may not know is that 33 years ago, I too studied abroad in London during my junior year of college. I studied at King’s College for a semester, and I can honestly say that studying abroad was one of the most impactful things in my life. Our family didn’t have a lot of money. We never went on vacations growing up, and although I grew up in Chicago, looking back, I had a small world view. I remember landing in London with a cocky attitude knowing I was “an American.” It wasn’t until I found myself in a dorm room late at night with four other guys I had just met that I realized, “I wasn’t in Kansas anymore.” I felt my swagger start to slowly leak out of my body as each of these blokes teased me at great length about being an American and made fun of the way I pronounced words. Oh, I fought back valiantly, but it was hopeless. I was outnumbered, and I remember the exact moment when I came to the realization that I was now the minority and not on my home turf anymore. Either I was going to realize and accept this, or it was going to be a very long semester. Well, even though I was still young and immature. I understood the assignment, and decided to embrace (not fight) the role of contemplative learner, rather than the all-knowing learn-ed that I thought I was coming to England to be. One of the first people I met when I got to my dorm/hall was Arjun. Arjun was a gregarious chap who was extremely smart and chatty, but like me, was in a new environment and nervously just trying to make friends. We hit it off right away, and he and I (along with others) proceeded to have the time of our lives for the next few months. It was a different time back then, and when the end of the semester arrived, we didn’t have cell phones or really even email to facilitate staying in touch. Long distance calls were expensive, and I still didn’t have any money. We would have to rely on good ole pen and paper to stay in touch, so Arj and I did what so many other 20 year old young men did at the time, we shook hands, hugged, and parted ways wishing each other luck in the future—an that was it. We went off to live our lives with a different world view and a lot of great memories, but not really thinking we would ever see each other again. Fast forward 33 years. Through the power of the internet, computers, cell phones, and LINKEDIN—I’ll be damned. I found Arj, and today, for the first time since we bid each other farewell 33 years ago, we saw each other again. Being short on time, we allotted ourselves two hours to catch up, but by the time we finished reminiscing, laughing, philosophizing, and scheming, five hours had past. Five hours. Five hours sounds like a long time, but when you’re trying to make up for 33 years of missed phone calls, text messages, condolences, and happy birthdays, it’s nothing. I’m so grateful I got the chance to see my old friend, Arj, today. He really was exactly the same guy I remembered, and he said the same. We’re just older, grayer versions of each other. In these crazy times, we have to appreciate the special moments that are given to us, and today was definitely one of them. We’ve vowed to stay in touch and to see each other again one day. Until then, I’ll just have to hang on to this great day..

The Iranians have to be governed by the nerdiest regime of all time. You can't swing a dead cat without hitting an Iranian leader who has written a book on Aristotle, Kant, Farabi, etc. Therefore, in order to foster constructive diplomatic relations with the Islamic Republic, the State Department should consider deploying the United States' own emergency Strategic Straussian Reserve of political philosophers. Before engaging Iran on ending the war, re-opening the Strait of Hormuz, signing mutual nonaggression pacts, and examining the future of sanctions, American political philosophers should engage the Iranians on the real issues at stake such as: -Resolving the theological-political question in both Western and Islamic contexts. -Developing a shared textual hermeneutic. -Addressing the connection between instrumental reason, technology, and modernity. We need to speak a language the Iranians understand. We need to transform these negotiations into a graduate seminar. @StateDept @SecRubio

When this is over, the western part of NATO will never be the same. Spain, England, France and Italy have sold us out, as they too often have a history of doing. Eastern European nations are the heart of NATO. They spend money on defense, know how to fight and love the US. France particularly deserves fault and blame. From supporting China and Russia at the UN to denying Americans overflight rights, they’re doing what they’ve always done - showing weakness, while cutting deals with terrorists. (The reason the US has a Marine Corps and Navy is unlike France, we refused to pay a ransom to the Barbary Pirates. France is always happy to cut a deal.) Wars have unintended consequences as nations show their true colors. NATO will never be the same, and Western European weakness and acquiescence is the cause.

In the future, there will be three major powers in the world: China, USA, EU. Neutral countries will move as much as possible towards the EU as their preferred partner because both China and the USA treat other countries disrespectfully and try to extort them. Europe will be the only great power and market to turn to if you want to have an equal and fair relationship. Canada is already moving towards Europe for this exact reason. India and Japan will also form a closer relationship with Europe. This is what soft power means. MAGA replies in the comment section will prove the point.
