Understanding systems, data flow, why things break at 2am on a Saturday; AI handles the syntax but the thinking part isn't going anywhere. What's dying is translating tickets into code. What's thriving is knowing what to build.

Today at a conference, I asked a room of 250 developers this question: "If your child was 18, would you recommend they pursue a career in programming today?" No one said yes. No one. Sobering.
