Thousands of children now have a stronger chance of surviving malaria. During a 4‑day malaria vaccine introduction and routine childhood immunization intensification exercise, teams supported by @WHONigeria and @gavi reached children aged 5 to 21 months across the state. At least 113,000 children received their first dose of the malaria vaccine. Each dose is a step toward reducing illness and deaths

Yes, we can end TB! While #TB is preventable and curable, it remains a silent threat transmitted simply through the air we breathe. Understanding the risks is the first step toward TB control.

Every child deserves the chance to grow, learn and thrive. Nigeria is taking important steps to make good nutrition a reality for more families. This week, the @WHONigeria’s @DrPavelUrsu met with the House Committee on Nutrition and Food Security, chaired by Hon. Chike John Okafor, to deepen collaboration that supports Nigeria’s efforts to reduce malnutrition and strengthen food security. Nigeria continues to face a high burden of undernutrition. NDHS 2024 shows little or no improvement since 2018: child wasting rose from 7%→8%, underweight 22%→27%, stunting 37%→40%, and exclusive breastfeeding remains at 29%. With renewed focus on evidence‑based policies and stronger systems, there’s a real opportunity to accelerate progress for millions of children.

Hearing loss shouldn’t stop children from learning and thriving. Teachers 🧑‍🏫, you can: - Seat the child at the front so they can see and hear you clearly - Use good lighting and face the child when speaking - Encourage children with hearing aids or implants to use them consistently - Support peers in helping children express their needs confidently - Create supportive classroom environments Learn more 🔗 bit.ly/4l97XkQ #WorldHearingDay

Every day, millions of Nigerians face preventable health risks—from hypertension, epidemics, and lead poisoning. Strengthening partnerships is key to protecting lives. @WHONigeria, led by @DrPavelUrsu, met with @nanlopogbureke of @ResolveTSL Nigeria to deepen collaboration that supports communities across the country. Together, @WHO and @ResolveTSL are working with government and partners to: • Reduce cardiovascular disease deaths — The prevalence of hypertension in Nigeria is estimated at 38%. • Strengthen epidemic preparedness and response capacity in high-risk areas countrywide • Prevent lead poisoning, which disproportionately affects children in over 12 states where there is increasing informal recycling of electronic wastes and artisanal mining. This collaboration—supported by partners and donors—helps advance Nigeria’s progress toward safer, healthier communities. 🔗 Learn more about WHO’s work in Nigeria: afro.who.int/countries/Nige… #HealthForAll #NCDPrevention #NigeriaHealth
