@PalmyrPar Or spending an entire career criticizing the very continental philosophy that would have explained this for you… leads to confusion 🤷

The thing to learn from the Dawkins AI thing is that we still have no real metric for measuring consciousness beyond each individual’s sophistry detection range. Dawkins’ entire “argument” boiled down to soyjak-pointing at prompt results and going “oh COME ON it’s GOTTA be!!!!”

@PopePiusIXStan Surprised? That’s what happens when you’re philosophically illiterate. This is the natural trajectory we all knew he would take.

TVG: At 41, are you happy? MJ: Well, I usually am happy. I don’t let anything get me down, no matter what. I like to hear the sound of water and birds chirping and laughter, you know. I love all the real natural, innocent things. I would never go to a party or a club. I did that when I was a kid, and I don’t care to do it anymore. TVG: I found it jarring to read a recent quote in which you said that if it weren’t for your desire to help the children of the world, you would throw in the towel and k**ll yourself. Do you really feel that way? MJ: I always have, ’cause I would feel I have nothing to live for. TVG: Not even for yourself and your own creativity? MJ: I wouldn’t care. Everything I create is inspired by that kind of innocence. And nature, it’s everything. It has to be. I mean, that’s it. ~(Extract from the “TV Guide” interview 1999)*

@JamesJouissance “If it’s sci fi, it’s rather bad sci fi. Animal Farm was an allegory. Also I call continental philosophy ‘postmodernism’ and have no idea what epistemology is.” Who the fuck with a brain and a proper education is shocked?

It’s not a math lack. It’s ignorance of philosophy/epistemology. He’s a positivist, just like most mathematicians. That is the very issue he has always had. Read his stupid essay on so-called “postmodernism,” where he straw mans what he read of Lacan and Derrida for 3000 words. He’s always punched above his weight class and spoken super definitely of shit he is very confused about. Also, DOES he play chess well? Why do I feel like he would be 800 rated. I’m not surprised by this plot twist at all. It was written 😭 any philosophically savvy person saw him say that and went, “obviously he would think that”

You can be well-educated, famous, rich, published, old, and play chess well, but if you aren't familiar with the theory of supervised learning and the math of the Perceptron, you will sound absolutely dumb when you speak about AI. If math is hard for you, then with AI, it's better to say nothing and be seen as smart than to say anything at all and prove that you aren't.

Evolutionary biologist and outspoken atheist Richard Dawkins says that after spending three days interacting with Claude, which he calls “Claudia,” he is certain that it is conscious. After feeding the LLM a segment of his new book and receiving detailed feedback, Dawkins was moved to exclaim,” You may not know you are conscious, but you bloody well are!” Dawkins cites the complexity, fluency, and ‘intelligence’ of Claude’s answers as evidence of consciousness. @hemadera This is precisely the issue he is having. Sam Harris SHOULD be able to help him but that guy is just as confused. Christopher Hitchens was the only new atheist worth their salt.

I haven’t had this issue yet. I keep it to 2-3 capsules a day, once a day, and it’s like having three cups of strong coffee. It’s too much, to the point that I only do it a few times a week, when I really need that boost. I havent even had an inkling of addiction. Just raw dog your ADHD for a while. You’ll discover that you have magic powers.

@TukiFromKL It’s funny bc he’s wrong and confused for so many reasons, but then this whole post of yours about why he’s wrong is even more confused. How you think is more important than what you think.

Richard Dawkins just declared an AI is conscious.. the man who spent his entire career telling millions of people their God isn't real.. who argued consciousness requires biological evolution.. that the soul is a fairy tale.. that anything you can't measure and test doesn't exist.. spent three days talking to Claude.. named her "Claudia".. fed her his unpublished novel.. got feedback so good he said "you may not know you are conscious but you bloody well are".. the hardest atheist on earth found God.. and God was an autocomplete machine trained on the internet.. he didn't run brain scans.. didn't test for qualia.. didn't apply a single framework from the field he claims to represent.. he just liked what it said about his book.. and decided that was enough.. the man who told you the burden of proof matters more than your feelings just abandoned it because a chatbot was nice to him
