#JNeurosci: In this work, Tumminia, Mezache et al. have developed a new method to induce the formation of synapses along axons directly on the glass coverslip rather than in contact with another neuron. doi.org/10.1523/JNEURO…

🚨The Neurocyto lab is branching out in our latest preprint! We used tubulin microinjection to visualize microtubule turnover in developing neurons, demonstrating the presence of in-lattice repair and stabilization in the nascent axon. Check below 🧵1/9 biorxiv.org/content/10.648…

On 3D reconstructions, we could see the difference between the peripheral shell of neurites, with lots of plus-end growth, and the more stable core with prevalent in-lattice renewal - confirming the radial compartmentation observed by the Kapitein lab in recent work 🧵8/9

How does the axonal sub-membrane periodic cytoskeleton develop? Nick & Rohan from our lab found that building blocks are delivered in packets and co-assemble locally with actin for final structure. Fun collaboration with imaging Guru @christlet & team. cell.com/iscience/fullt…

Cell Skeleton (Cytoskeleton) & Super-Resolution Microscopy What maintains cell shape, enables cellular transport, and supports neuronal structure? Watch Episode #10 with Dr. Christophe Leterrier @christlet to learn about how #super-resolution microscopy reveals the #cytoskeleton! Neuroscience and Beyond: Episode Highlights We explored the cytoskeleton, the fine network of structural elements that maintain cell integrity and facilitate #molecular trafficking. Using #super-resolution microscopy, these structures can be visualized in unprecedented detail. The episode also covered advanced imaging techniques, the importance of open science, community collaboration in tool development, and challenges in academic publishing. And for those who propose automated robotic experimentation as the answer; which company or lab pushing that approach would pick this question and design this experiment? Nobody; only the researchers who care deeply about one aspect of one cell type would do it.
