@chukgoodin Yes, the tritium included in the Smith Blade is radioactive, but it is completely safe for everyday use.

Got my Smith Blade from Hacksmith. This will replace the Victoronix Swiss Cybertool that's been in my pocket for 16 years. It's made in Canada too!

@orzelc Just get some gloves made of the same material as the inside of your pocket, problem solved.

I would love to understand the process by which they make smartphone screens so that they don't register 30% of my deliberate actions but when I'm walking with it in my pocket it skips all over the place, changes playback speed on my podcasts, opens new apps...

Sometimes I post about my semi-serious #utceverywhere campaign (work using UTC time), but one reasonable objection is it’s annoying to have the date change mid-day. I have a solution: the UTC Week

My Gabecube... err Steam Machine arrived last night. Fits wonderfully in my TV cabinet. Looks small compared to the PS5 Pro. Does anyone not use the red cloth front plate? That red just pops. Setup was super easy and I dunno about the naysayers, perf has been quite good.

@rcousine Wait...there are DIY fixes that don't have any or all of those problems?? No wonder some people like doing them...

The key is all these projects came off successfully without much pain! Bad DIY is when you get halfway in and then a seized bolt breaks, or you realize there’s a problem with the load bearing wall, or the plumbing break is under a concrete slab…

The bemused realization that I could enjoy a vacation experience that was just a bunch of DIY problems delivered as easy self-contained fixes.

I may have gone a bit overkill with the Boards of Canada Inferno album mount on my wall. It's overshadowing the other albums terribly well.

@rcousine That was the first Bond book I read -- I think I was 13 which is a good age for James Bond.

A tired critique of James Bond novels is that they’re casually racist against, say, the Japanese. But you’re underrating how casually racist Bond is towards Americans:

@rcousine They also shouldn't get too cold. Quite a fussy technology those o-rings.

If you’re wondering, sometimes overheating an o-ring just invisibly ruins it, and the fix is a new o-ring. Hard lesson learned on the project car, but a fairly cheap lesson.

Post your hottest DIY take, here’s mine: WD-40 is worthless as a lubricant, and you’re not using it as a water dispersant.

The OG Threewave website is back! I've been meaning to build a website celebrating my work over the decades and bringing back to the original. Check it out and see what I've been up to lately. threewave.com/threewave

In June 2014 I was living in Bellevue WA in the building directly next to Bungie's offices. A friend of mine working there walked over and handed me a Destiny Alpha disc for my PS4. I've enjoyed the game ever since. All good things must come to an end. Eyes up, Guardian!
Destiny 2@DestinyTheGame

Read the full blog at bung.ie/d2_may_21_2026 For almost twelve years, we have had the joy and honor to explore the Destiny universe with you all. Through all the ups and downs, surprises and triumphs, building Destiny alongside our players has been a monumental privilege. While our love for Destiny 2 has not changed, it has become clear that after The Final Shape, we have reached the time for our shared worlds, and Destiny, to live beyond Destiny 2. As our focus turns towards a new beginning for Bungie, we will begin work incubating our next games. To that end, on June 9, 2026, we will release the final live-service content update for Destiny 2 to begin that new journey as a studio. Though active development may be concluding, we will ensure that Destiny 2 remains playable, just as the original Destiny is today. Many changes in this final update will aim to ensure that Destiny 2 is a welcoming place for players to return to. We’re proud of Destiny 2, the places it took us, and the legacy it has created. Because of you all, our universe is vast, built on years of shared stories, adventures, and victories. From the Cosmodrome to the Pale Heart to the Lawless Frontier, we have forged life-long memories and friendships with you all. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who made that journey with us. From the deepest part of our hearts, thank you, and we'll see you in the stars.

My review of the lovely town of Gibsons: There’s a prominent intersection in the middle of town called “Five Corners”. It has four corners and three stop signs, and both of those are disgusting.
