Itamar Ben Gvir’s conduct is entirely deserving of the censure it has drawn across Israel’s political spectrum, including from Foreign Minister @gidonsaar. Ben Gvir represents an extreme fringe, and his mistreatment of detainees is abhorrent, wholly unjustifiable and antithetical to the liberal democratic principles at the heart of Israel’s founding and the values that LFI upholds. His antics yesterday only further demonstrate why Prime Minister Netanyahu’s decision to bring him into government was a catastrophic mistake.

BBC News: "... 400 activists were arrested in a port in Southern Israel after the navy intercepted their flotilla in intl waters" Israel attacked boats in intl waters & seized the people on board, taking them to Israel. I suppose arrested sounds better than piracy & kidnapping!

EXCL: Andy Burnham is backing Shabana Mahmood’s controversial changes to the immigration system, his allies have said, in a blow to those in Labour who hope to soften them. The Greater Manchester mayor is understood to be keen to reframe the changes - but is supportive of home secretary’s attempts to limit legal and illegal migration. Burnham faces tough fight to return to Westminster against Reform UK, which has already called him “open-borders Andy”. But those close to his campaign say he will not seek to dilute the government’s curbs on migration - which have been criticised by some senior Labour MPs as un-British and mimicking Trump. 🚨🇮🇱 NEW: Benjamin Netanyahu says “the way Minister Ben Gvir treated the flotilla activists is not in line with the values and norms of the State of Israel”

You knowingly caused harm to our State in this disgraceful display - and not for the first time. You have undone tremendous, professional, and successful efforts made by so many people - from IDF soldiers to Foreign Ministry staff and many others. No, you are not the face of Israel.

I am truly appalled at the video posted by Israeli Cabinet Minister Ben-Gvir taunting those involved in the Global Sumud Flotilla. This violates the most basic standards of respect and dignity in the way people should be treated. We are in touch with the families of a number of British nationals involved to provide them with consular support. We have demanded an explanation from the Israeli authorities and made clear their obligations to protect the rights of our citizens and all those involved.
