They have come with another one: "You are not a Catholic if you stand against the Pope" Simply because people said the Pope should focus on Christians, especially christians who are being persecuted and leave Political Correctness, Fence Sitting, and "wokism" Any focused Pope should have made Nigeria his first point of call owing to what has been happening to Christians here. Nigeria is number one on the list of countries where Christians are persecuted for their faith. Everything is not about Donald Trump. People need to be taught from childhood that you can love and respect someone and still correct them when they are wrong. You can love and respect people in authority but still criticise them when they are wrong. This attitude of turning men to God is not helping anyone. Stop turning servants of God into gods.

I disagree with you. When parties appear before the court, they are bound by orders of the court irrespective of what the stated in their court processes. The court of Appeal has ordered parties not to do anything that would jeopardize the subject matter of the suit before the trial court. Going by this order, it is only natural that INEC decides to take a neutral stand by not recognizing any of the factional leaders. That is in fact the right thing.

@Ewyochojila @ChidiOdinkalu @inecnigeria @ADCNig 3. Under pressure, Amupitan made a volt face. 4. INEC argument for removing names of ADC leaders is against its own earlier statement as contained in the deposed affidavit. 5. In summary, Amupitan is on course to be worse than Yakubu.

@Ewyochojila @ChidiOdinkalu @inecnigeria @ADCNig Reading the affidavit, I observed as follows; 1. INEC deposed it before Amupitan got appointed. 2. INEC said that David Mark led exco has been in place before Nafiu Bala went to court and injunction is no longer tenable as act is already completed.

@ChidiOdinkalu The CAF Appeals panel that made the controversial decision was led by Justice Roli Daibo Harriman, a judge from Delta State, Nigeria. Sadly, I wasn't surprised, given the notorious reputation Nigerian judges have earned in recent times. They seem quite savvy in undermine justice.

In 2 months, there have bn 2 different winners of #AfCON2025. This will surely end at the Court of Arbitration in Sport where we cld end with a different outcome still & a third winner in as many months. The implications for the sporting side of things are already very far reaching. For the betting industry, this cld end up in the courts too. The future of the #AfCON is in trouble. This is a mess!!

@LesibaLaBokgomo @MickyJnr__ @Elidnihp_R First, nothing is right about the decision. However, I agree that Motsepe is not involved in the appeal because it is his decision to retain Senegal as champions while imposing fines on both sides that was appealed.

🔴 Ahmed Hossam Mido, former Egypt international, reacts strongly to the AFCON verdict: 🎙️ “Stripping Senegal of the trophy and awarding it to Morocco is the biggest scandal in football history. This will divide Africa and we look like a corrupt continent. Africa deserves better than this.” 🎙️ “There must be a revolution in African football. These people must leave today, not tomorrow.” 🎙️ “I have nothing against Morocco. I love the country and its people. But the reality is, the game was decided on the pitch. Senegal were the best and deserved the title.” 🎙️ “I wanted to congratulate my Moroccan friends… but I cannot congratulate something that was won in offices, not on the field.” 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬? 👀 #AfricanFootball

Senegal backs Dr Patrice Motsepe amid AFCON controversy The Senegalese President has today contacted Dr Patrice Motsepe, assuring him of their full support for his leadership and work at CAF. Despite taking the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, Senegal acknowledge that Motsepe had no involvement in the decision-making process, stressing that the verdict was reached by an independent body. They maintain that he had 0% contribution to the final outcome. 𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐒 𝐎𝐅𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐂𝐀𝐅 𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐈𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐓!!! 😀 #AfricanFootball #Senegal

I still wonder why you refer to yourself as the “alternative”. Alternative to what? None of your moves, statements, actions, commissions and even omissions has a semblance of value to the name “alternative”. Back to the subject matter! Why do you all politicians feel so entitled to everything, up to choosing which kind of questions to entertain? The kind of questions to be asked? The kind of tonality it must adopt? and so on! The only reason that would make you describe that very interview in the manner you have done is simply because you hate accountability. You had wished Daniel was giving opportunities to continue lie about endless policies that were never going to be true ? That’s what you described as a good journalism. On the issue of political realignment, we all know you are a Tinubu crony, demanded by Tinubu to remain in PDP, same as Wike to keep eyes 👀 on the party, ensuring it never has a chance. This being said, the issue of “political realignment” as you choose to refer it is synonymous with lack of integrity, even as Daniel himself rightly stated in the interview that it can be caused by “personal interest”. Finally Sir, you are too old to be sitting on the fence, we all know where you actually belong! Be bold!

Hostility Is Not Journalism. Mehdi Hassan Take Note. There is a clear difference between tough journalism and outright hostility. One serves the public interest. The other serves the ego of the interviewer. Unfortunately, the recent exchange between @mehdirhasan and presidential spokesperson @BwalaDaniel fell squarely into the latter category. What viewers witnessed was not a serious interview. It was an attempted public ambush. From the outset, the tone was aggressively confrontational. Questions were framed less as inquiries into governance and more as prosecutorial traps. Responses were repeatedly interrupted before they could develop. Clarifications were brushed aside. The atmosphere was unmistakable: this was not a conversation designed to inform viewers but a spectacle designed to embarrass the guest. Serious journalism does not operate this way. The craft of interviewing demands discipline. It requires the ability to ask difficult questions while still allowing the guest to articulate answers. It requires intellectual confidence strong enough to permit disagreement without descending into open hostility. Above all, it requires a commitment to substance over theatrics. That commitment was glaringly absent. Nigeria is currently grappling with a range of serious national challenges economic restructuring, security threats, governance reforms, and the complex work of stabilizing a large and dynamic democracy. A responsible interviewer would have used the opportunity to interrogate the administration’s policies on these matters: What strategies are being deployed? What reforms are underway? What outcomes should citizens expect? Instead, viewers were treated to an exercise in selective outrage and repetitive interruption. Even more troubling was the insinuation that political realignment is somehow illegitimate. Democratic politics is built on shifting alliances. Individuals and movements evolve. Former opponents become partners when national circumstances demand cooperation. This is neither shocking nor dishonorable; it is one of the defining characteristics of democratic political life. History provides countless examples. Leaders across the world have entered alliances with former adversaries when the demands of governance required it. To pretend otherwise is either intellectual dishonesty or a deliberate attempt to create sensationalism where none exists. But the deeper problem in the interview was tone. A journalist who openly ridicules or repeatedly attempts to humiliate a guest crosses an important professional boundary. The role of the interviewer is to hold power accountable not to behave like a courtroom prosecutor seeking a viral “gotcha” moment. When the pursuit of humiliation replaces the pursuit of insight, journalism loses its credibility. Audiences deserve better than that. They deserve interviews that illuminate policy, probe governance, and help citizens understand how leaders intend to confront the pressing challenges of the day. What they do not need is a theatrical performance in which hostility is mistaken for intellectual rigor. Respectful engagement does not weaken journalism; it strengthens it. Firm questioning does not require contempt. Professionalism does not require aggression. If global media wishes to retain its claim to moral authority as a watchdog of democracy, it must remember a basic principle: the goal of journalism is to inform the public, not to stage spectacles at the expense of civility and substance. The interview in question did neither. It was not a demonstration of fearless journalism. It was a demonstration of how easily the craft can slide into something far less admirable when provocation becomes the objective and professionalism is abandoned. I want to list President Tinubu’s achievements in a video. I have been searching, but it has been difficult. I am not talking about promises. I mean real achievements that affect the common man. For example, if power supply truly improved and people are feeling it, that would be worth talking about. I need tangible results. I am sincere about this. Please drop examples in the comments or send a DM. I do not want to hear later, “Why are you not talking about the achievements of this administration?” or “You are not balanced again.” I want to talk about achievements, but what you do not see, you cannot talk about. If you do not have examples, please do not hide behind insults like: – we know your mission – you are obidiot – ode – you be mumu – can’t you see Using insults instead of examples only shows that you cannot point to any real achievement. Within 48 hours, the video will be ready. Thank you.

The South-East is the smallest region in Nigeria by population, yet President Tinubu still appears to have a strong political advantage across all five states: 1. Abia State — Alex Otti (LP) Don’t be surprised if President Tinubu performs strongly in Abia. Political alignments may shift, and pragmatism often overrides sentiment. 2. Anambra State — Charles Soludo (APGA) President Tinubu played a role in Soludo’s emergence for a second term, and that political goodwill may influence outcomes in Anambra. 3. Ebonyi State — Francis Nwifuru (APC) Ebonyi is firmly an APC state, and the structure is already positioned to deliver strong support for President Tinubu. 4. Enugu State — Peter Mbah Enugu is increasingly aligning with progressive politics, and momentum appears to favour continuity at the centre. 5. Imo State — Hope Uzodimma (APC) As a leading APC governor, Uzodimma is expected to play a major role in mobilising support for President Tinubu. Several states are already lining up behind President Tinubu for 2027. Second term — no shaking.

The session highlighted key benefits of the reforms aimed at reducing the tax burden on manufacturers and simplifying compliance, including - Key benefits for manufacturers: • Harmonisation: Elimination of multiple taxes to streamline operations • Incentives: Expanded input VAT credits and improved incentives for priority sectors • Efficiency: Promotion of technology adoption and automation to simplify and modernise tax compliance processes and elimination of burdensome compliance requirements such as certificate of acceptance for fixed assets as a precondition for capital allowance. • Equity & fairness: Rationalisation of distortionary incentives and higher tax exemption thresholds for small businesses. • Business growth: Removal of withholding tax on manufacturers and turnover tax, helping conserve cash flow and avoid taxation of capital. • Taxpayer protection: Establishment of the Office of Tax Ombud to protect taxpayer rights and curb harassment and exploitation. Areas identified for clarification and further action include: • High import tariffs on certain raw materials • Tax treatment and exemptions for exports • Accelerated adoption of tax harmonisation laws by all states to complement the national reforms and curb multiple taxation by state and non-state actors The dialogue also featured a robust Q&A session with industry participants.
