I've fiercely criticized the current and past governments in public several times in my reporting, and no one has even spoken to me about it, let alone arrested me. I spent two nights with my camera pointed at an RAF base. You'd get arrested in a second in the US for doing that in a post-911 world. You can't even legally photograph a power plant in the US. The UK has no more free speech issues than the US, and I'm sick of the nonstop judgement. The US has enough problems to deal with.

I find it distasteful that people have to spin their favourite politicians comments into some kind of devastating debate victory, like they are attempting to wish the heroic scolding of The West Wing into reality. Starmer didn’t “correct” Vance (or “own” or “destroy” him) - he just denied the accusation that we have issues with free speech. But that denial is hollow to anybody who lives here. So the victory lap being taken by Labour supporters is bizarre to anybody outside their bubble.

Then you read about US involvement in what led up to the EuroMaiden protests and trying to install a Nato friendly PM and the whole thing stinks. Ukraine was never considered European until now.
