Grand Theft Bear ... Truffles was bearnapped .... Thankfully, this story has a very happy ending. 🐻🚔 The Chicago Police Department has been incredibly supportive since the day we opened our State Street store, and last night they proved it again in a big way. Our beloved mascot bear, Truffles, was stolen from the store by a group of kids who apparently decided that grand theft bear was a perfectly reasonable way to spend a Friday night. Thankfully, CPD responded immediately and recovered Truffles in less than an hour. During his brief adventure, he reportedly took a ride on the Red Line and then enjoyed a police escort back home, which is a pretty wild night out for a chocolate store bear! We are very relieved to have him back where he belongs. What was meant to be a fun, family-friendly part of our store was taken, and that part is not funny. But thanks to the quick response and kindness of the officers involved, Truffles is home safe, slightly more streetwise, and already acting like this was all part of his personal brand. We are incredibly grateful to the Chicago Police Department for taking this seriously, moving quickly, and showing our team so much support. We’ve felt that support from CPD since opening, and last night was no exception. Welcome home, Truffles!
