@returnoncap I agree with you on the brokers. BRO trading at 11-12x EV/EBITDA is worth a look. Makes their recent acquisition of Risk look cheaper ($110 at purchase/issuance). MKL interesting too. Cheap, activist shaking things up, and Simon Wilson taking over ins. ops.

$ODFL $SAIA $TFII $FDX In November, who is widely regarded as the foremost expert on freight, said it looked like a deep recession was imminent. Now, he's never been more bullish on freight! Saying demand rivals the surge we saw during Covid. This is not a dig at Craig Fuller @FreightAlley but rather the opposite... if one of the smartest guys in the field, with the most real-time proprietary freight data, can't predict the economy a few months out, what makes you think you can? You can't! Even when you get it right on occasion, don't confuse that with luck. You will NOT predict the economy accurately, consistently. No one will. Craig changed his mind when the data changed and you should always be open to doing the same, too. I am only in LTL stocks as you can see and one of the insights I found fascinating from this podcast Craig did with Thoughtful Money was that for about the first time ever, it's looking like full-truckload is becoming less of the cutthroat commodity it has historically been. youtu.be/Hbyj1M_XIW0 From taking foreign non-English speaking drivers off the road, to cracking down on unscrupulous operators (e.g. see recent 60 Minutes piece on Serbian-run Super Ego), it's not just LTL which apparently has a bright outlook. I told you when I was buying $ODFL and $SAIA last year not near, but at, the 52-week and multi-year lows down to penny. However, those posts were crickets because they're not flashy X shitcos. When it comes to full-truckload, which stocks would you say are the best of the worst?

Does Doma have any activist plans for its $HIFS position? Looks like they ramped it up significantly over the past several months.

Finding so many good ideas in illiquid microcap land. Companies trading at 1.0x cash flow that no one knows about. Other companies that converted their gold holdings into significant cash balances and are now trading under 2.0x EBITDA. Just crazy. Very hard to buy is you are managing a ton of money but if you are poor enough you can compound like crazy in this stuff.

In investing I feel like you are better off swinging for doubles than trying to hit a grand slam (those are too hard to predict). So, what's your favorite name that will double this year?
