At the #CDS2026, the World Liberty Congress hosted a side event bringing together democracy advocates and frontline leaders united against authoritarianism. Dan Twining, President of @IRIglobal, spoke on the importance of supporting democratic movements, while Javier El-Hage from the Human Rights Foundation presented the newly launched Tyranny Tracker, mapping dictatorships around the world. Executive Council members Carine Kanimba, Andrei Sannikov, Chemi Lhamo, and Shukria Barakzai also shared powerful remarks on supporting frontline leaders fighting for freedom in their countries and the path forward for the WLC. The fight against authoritarianism is global — and solidarity is essential.

Meet Kiele Cabrera. She is a Cuban-American activist whose advocacy blends art, resistance, and a deeply personal family story rooted in the fight for freedom. She gained international attention in 2021 after her powerful “Free Cuba” protest during the Olympic Games, becoming one of the most recognizable young voices of the Cuban exile movement. Since then, she has continued to advocate for political prisoners, human rights, and democratic change in Cuba, while championing freedom of expression on the global stage. Through art, film, and public advocacy, @KieleAless works to preserve the legacy of Cuban dissidents and amplify the voices of those silenced under authoritarian rule. As the youngest member of the Assembly of the Cuban Resistance and now an elected Leadership Council Member for the Americas at the World Liberty Congress General Assembly in Berlin, she represents a new generation committed to defending liberty and shaping a freer future for Cuba.

Meet @NilofarAyoubi - an Afghan women’s and human rights defender, entrepreneur, and advocate against gender apartheid. After disguising herself as a boy to access education under Taliban rule, she went on to found multiple businesses in Afghanistan, creating jobs for hundreds of women. Forced to flee in 2021. She served as Regional Secretary for the Middle East and North Africa at the World Liberty Congress for 2023-2025, and was elected as WLC Leadership Council at the WLC General Assembly in Berlin. She also supports refugee aid initiatives across Europe and the United States.
