@billyliucci @AmandaMAtwell I agree. Teams game planned a pass rush against Arch bc of how bad he (and co) were in the first half. His growth was evident under pressure and it absolutely helped. It certainly wasn’t fun playing against so many top defenses/players, but learning to overcome will help in ‘26.

@ckimberli @AmandaMAtwell Woefully unprepared is a stretch. Miami was an absolutely elite defense and Texas on the road was tough, but even then they scored 17 with two red zone turnovers and a short FG block. It wasn't as if they were shut down and woefully unprepared.

After a few plus drafts + playoff seasons, Texas has a disappointing season and draft (losing to two teams with better drafts). Let’s see what next year holds. Should have a couple of high picks, which should equate to a better season. Teams who lost to Texas can keep hating.

@reclinernerd @AmandaMAtwell @billyliucci Crazy prediction: Texas will either meet expectations in 2026 or not (not the crazy part- hang in there with me) and either way, I could see a new HC in 2027. If Texas wins the NC or doesn’t make it to the NC game I give it a 51% chance. *I’m not saying I’m in favor of this.

@billyliucci @AmandaMAtwell Mostly true but I don’t think A&M’s schedule was anything either. And hey, like 2024 Texas, sometimes it takes luck like that (and low injuries). But the A&M offense was clearly woefully unprepared to make a run, once they were punched in the mouth. Too much time passed from ND.

@ckimberli @AmandaMAtwell OU played Alabama's defense. Tech played Oregon after facing no one of note all season. A&M played a Miami defense that played lights out throughout the remainder of the playoff. They're not the same.

@DeanDominie I think your premise is a little off. He talks about this on a recent podcast. Most of the teams who are making runs are doing so with players who are seasoned vs younger talent. Maybe it’s not the answer in every situation, and he hasn’t made the right decisions, but it’s proven

@AmandaMAtwell @SoonerVirginia Amanda nails it here. The biggest blessing in disguise for Arch as a player was his bad play the beginning of the season (with OL too). It helped him navigate the pocket better on the backend. If you pass rush you better strike because he’s getting better at making you pay.

@SoonerVirginia For as much pressure as he got all season he hardly every turned over the ball which I think is pretty overlooked when evaluating his play. He had struggles but could have been so much worse with that OL

Props to Arch for holding on to this ball. 9 times out of 10 this is a strip sack. Still don’t know how he did it but it was sneakily a big play in this game
