Big part of the upside surprise came from goods inflation rebounding again, especially energy-related components and transportation. Core services also stayed relatively sticky, which is important because that part tends to be watched closely by the Fed.
So it wasn’t just one small category skewing the number imo, inflation pressures were relatively broad this time. That’s also why the market reacted a bit negatively initially, because it pushes back a bit against the whole “inflation is cooling again” narrative...

There it is. The Producer Price Index just jumped 1.5% in a single month. That's the biggest spike since 2022, and it's a freight train coming straight for your wallet. We're already seeing consumer inflation at a 3-year high of 3.8%, with real wages actually falling for the first time in three years. This PPI number means that pressure is about to get intense. @CrypticTrades_ I can’t believe this is going viral. Not the same context at all. The only way I can see this being a bubble is if Capex spending cannot be monetized and they can’t justify AI/HPC investments anymore. But on pure P/E ratios, it’s soooo different than dot com bubble.

Aside from this subjective fractal, the dot-com bubble is nothing like today’s AI rally and the visual difference lies in P/E ratios.
