This my award for 25 years at @brookes_law, joining one of my religion/occulture shelves. My gosh. It's been a good academic home for me and, appealing to my inner neophile, no two years have been the same.

Take home #2: It has already been a privilege to use my SLT skills to support capacity ax by producing effective, personalised education material but @clairedethan really deepened my understanding of the balance between human rights, capacity and the risk of bubble wrapping!

@PaulRBeckett That’s great for people who sign- why can’t non-signers (ie the majority of deaf people) make video calls too?

Note to hospitals: please can deaf people have a way of finding out how a seriously ill relative is, which doesn’t involve getting random strangers to make very sensitive phone calls? Currently easier to teach unicorns to crochet

Note to airlines: if you require deaf people to make phone calls to contact you and the best you can offer is minicom, you are saying ‘just do all the adjusting so we don’t have to. Cos, um, data protection’. Don’t have a Tardis, can’t go back to 1998 and you’re breaking laws
