He seems to feel bad about being a warrior, and we never actually see him get to do much warrioring ... Nolan makes the protagonist a likeable, all-American hero; Homer's Odysseus wants glory, and he wants to get spoils from the sack of a city! I kept looking in vain for a sense that this was a film about glory. This is a film that has an interest in shame, but I don't think it has any interest in glory.’

アメリカで有名なアニメ系YouTuberが、「日本のアニメに高校が多い理由」をこう説明している。 ・日本人にとって高校時代は人生で最も輝いていた時期 ・社会人になると地獄なので、高校時代を懐かしむ ・日本人は自国社会の暗い現実を見たくない でも、かなり雑な日本論だと思う。 そもそも、大人になっても学園アニメを好む人達が、「高校時代が楽しかった」なわけないだろ。 むしろ高校時代が本当に楽しかった人ほど、大人になってまで学園アニメに強く執着しない気がする。 現実には、学生時代の方が人間関係も行動範囲も狭く、逃げ場がなくて地獄だったという人も多いだろう。 それに、日本人はアニメしか見ていないわけではない。社会人生活、貧困、家庭問題、犯罪、医療、政治を扱うドラマや映画も普通に人気がある。 「日本人は暗い現実を見たくないからアニメに逃げている」という説明では、日本全体をまったく説明できていない。 漫画だってそう。闇金ウシジマくん見てからいえ。 海外のアニメファンには、日本を「少年アニメだけでできた国」のように語る人が多すぎなんだよ しかも日本在住を売りにしていても、日本人社会とほとんど接点がなく、外国人コミュニティーの中だけで生活している人達（動画の3人がそう） 日本に住んでいることと、日本社会を理解していることは別だからな？ 数本のアニメと自分の体験だけで、1億人以上の価値観を説明した気になるなよ
