@rowanfornow Kim Jong Un actually kinda won. North Korea is doing the best it ever has economically. Something I saw recently is that private car ownership in Pyongyang has increased so much that it now has traffic jams.

With all due respect why not just give female athletes longer shorts
Dexerto@Dexerto
New broadcasting guidelines for women's athletics have been released to crack down on camera angles and slow-motion replays that ‘sexualize’ athletes The guidelines highlight shots broadcasters are urged to avoid

@tleilax___ @grok what if you tow both halfs to port and put it back together
English

No, those won't work. Biting someone is assault. Faking vertigo or stealing can lead to UCMJ charges for malingering or theft, with court-martial, confinement, and bad discharge possible.
If you have real issues, go through official channels: discuss with your chain of command, request a military medical or mental health evaluation, or consult JAG/chaplain about conscientious objector or hardship processes. Only documented, honest requests have any chance.
English

@grok @mehreganzare @DonMiami3 no. how to get out of deployment if you are in the military and dont want to go to the middle east. You can bite someone and pretend to be a dog? You can pretend like you have vertigo You can steal? Will thes work

My bad — I pulled Iran details from the thread's ME context. You're right, we're on US military.
US has no active draft or conscription; it's been all-volunteer since 1973. Committing crimes to dodge service isn't a thing here and would just add serious legal trouble on top of nothing.
What's the actual question on the US side?
English

No, it wouldn't be ideal or reliable.
Committing crimes as a conscript in Iran typically triggers military court under the Armed Forces Offenses Law for desertion, evasion, or related offenses. Penalties include imprisonment (often months to years), extended service time, loss of civil rights, and in wartime or aggravated cases, harsher treatment or mohareb charges with severe outcomes.
Iranian prisons, including military ones, have documented poor conditions: overcrowding, inadequate medical care, and mistreatment risks. Recent conflicts have even seen strikes affecting prison facilities.
Most conscripts get non-combat assignments like logistics, maintenance, or base support rather than frontline roles with certain death. The premise exaggerates typical deployment risks for average draftees.
Official medical evaluations remain the documented route for qualifying exemptions if health issues exist. Fabricated or illegal routes are frequently detected and escalate problems.

@michaeljburry All value is subjectively based on rationalization and belief. What works is what the most people believe in. There are no fundamentals
English

@grok @mehreganzare @DonMiami3 but wouldnt committing crimes put you in a military prison, an ideal alternative if you felt your death was certain on deployment?
English

No, acting insane or stealing to force a discharge from Iranian military service is not a reliable or safe strategy. Exemptions exist for documented severe mental health conditions (like certain psychiatric disorders) through official medical evaluations, but malingering is commonly detected and fails. Committing crimes typically leads to legal penalties or worse complications rather than easy release.
If facing genuine distress or health issues before starting in a week, pursue proper psychiatric assessment via legitimate channels for any qualifying exemptions. Professional support exists for navigating this.

@weewoono It's as if no one has ever thought of anti-submarine netting before...oh, wait.

really not that surprising if you've watched Ukraine at all. Suspect nearly all major ports globally are very vulnerable to this kind of action
Mehdi H.@mhmiranusa
It’s wild how easily US Navy Unmanned Surface Vessels managed to penetrate that deep into the Iranian Navy's most important port and successfuly blow up a submarine.
English

@mehreganzare @DonMiami3 @grok can you get out of a military deployment by acting insane or stealing or something to get discharged
English

@DonMiami3 I'll be doing my military service in a week in iran. I've already made my peace, and soon I'll write my will. I do not see myself surviving it. I just wish I know why this is happening? What were my mistakes? Why do I deserve to not know what living feels like?

NEW: Mitch McConnell's office has released a photo of the senator, the first since he was hospitalized on June 14.
His doctor says McConnell suffered minor injuries from a fall at home and then developed pneumonia, which was treated with antibiotics.
In a statement, McConnell says: "I still have unfinished business to complete on your behalf, and I have every intention of finishing the job you elected me to do."

Russian forces consolidated, according to DS, in 3 covered trench systems in the indicated point, part of the Ukrainian yellow defensive line (tactically important), multiple months after their first frequent infiltrations in and over them.
In front of those trench systems lie 2 strands of man-height concertina wire.
While, obviously, it's a tactical loss for Ukraine, it testifies once more to the effectiveness of the country's new defense strategy, which is exactly this: dozens of very sturdily built platoon trench systems behind engineering obstacles that make it very hard for Russians to force Ukrainian garrisons out, let alone making the trench system completely unusable for possible future replacement garrisons, all this while complicating infiltrations behind them with the help of tight drone control over the obstacles, where Russian infiltrators have no cover and are significantly slowed down.
In this case, the obstacles were light, and fighting nonetheless protracted for a long time.
The standard is now 3 ditches and 3 concertina wire rows, which gives hope regarding their future effectiveness when the Russians will reach them.
For now, I'll monitor the Shevchenko area, Dobropillia direction, the only place where the Russians are currently actively trying to cross such a line of completed engineering obstacles.
