@cmmteach So I am also SO VERY BAD at transformations (my spatial sense is v weak). And I NOTICED a bit ago while planning lessons that you can relate it to slope. So when you reflect, the slope from A to line and from line to A' will be related. Also worked with rotations.

@optimizingke @mavenofmath I do this too! I can't tell you how many times I've opened my phone to look at the weather and then ended up spending 15 minutes scrolling social media instead 🙄 🤦‍♀️

@mavenofmath @class_tangents I tend to distracted if I open my phone. Sometimes a separate physical calculator helps me focus. Maybe calculators shouldn't be required but should be available as a learning aid, especially for students with ADHD. #iteachmath

@mavenofmath Also re: phones, that's assuming every student has one, so we can run into some equity issues there. A $20 calculator is more accessible to some than a hundreds of dollars device. Also my school is no-phones-in-class, so that's moot point anyway.

@class_tangents What about the phone app? Does that feel different?

@mavenofmath Honestly, I haven't tried it, so maybe I spoke too quick. Regarding scientific calculators, is your question based on the fact that Desmos is free and so buying a calc is a waste of money? Or is there functionality that you think makes Desmos superior?

@misscalcul8 This is my plan! I might just do the first semester (mostly because I teach 3 classes and don't have time to do the entire year), but I think it will be really helpful.
