I've recently written an article for @HeavyTorque about the air cushion equipment used by heavy hauliers to reduce the axle weight on weak bridges. There's so much going on in this photo, including the police escort pushing a broken down car! @CCCuration#heavyhaulage
Any idea where this was @MrTimDunn@PipDunn (are you sure you're not related?) and what's happening? I think it might be the @rersteam. Early 1960s, judging by the ancient Commer tractor unit.
This is Raymond Cook sitting on the mudguard of his dad, Siddle's, brand new Scammell tractor in 1955. Raymond went on to set up @_Elddis_ Caravans with his father, while his brother, Geoff, set up @ElddisTransport. (Elddis is Siddle spelt backwards!) @pipdunn@classiclorries
Had a drive in this @VolvoTrucksUK F7 today at Rowell's Transport. Stunning condition and the four over four synchro box shifted like it was new. Beautiful 😍
Here you go @pipdunn , another ERF for you, assisting Pickfords with a transformer out of Parsons Peebles in Edinburgh. I think the trailer is TM413, the 200 tonner, which is a regular fixture at the Great Dorset @steamfair . Can anyone confirm? @classiclorries
One of the consequences of the #Britanniabridge fire in 1970 was that a number of Class 47 locos were stranded on Anglesey. My old company @pickfords moved them to Holyhead where they were loaded on a ship and taken to the mainland! @AngleseyScMedia@pipdunn@MrTimDunn@RAIL
Found this on Facebook recently, the prototype Deltic being moved by road by my old company! A bit worried about the 2 men standing on the drawbar, but love the classic car rally behind the load! (Photo possibly owned by @DelticPS, but not clear!) @pipdunn@RAIL@CCCuration
