The sheer amount of planning, thought, and trial-and-error that went into this light art. [📹 zolaq_lightart]

@DannPetty Story of my last 4 years. 😞 Been working with incubator teams in multiple big tech orgs which has been awesome except for the ‘you-can’t-tell-anyone’ part of it.

Messing around with Canva this morning and oh dang, you can actually publish the websites you design. Imagine, designing simple websites in Canva for local businesses and since this tool is for non-pros, it's potentially easier for clients to hop in/edit. Squarespace meets Figma type thing. Webflow is way more powerful and professional and will stay king but like Squarespace, Canva seems template, low-budget focused. You won't be able to charge $5K+ like with Webflow, but maybe few hundred to $2K which is huge. I use to make websites for $200-$500 in Photoshop + Flash. People forget you have to start somewhere. Not only can they do the website in Canva, but you can also set them up with animated social media posts and all kinds of things right there. Someone start a small Canva design agency ASAP. You'll crush some of these so called "pros." My kids use Canva. Their teachers use Canva. Lots of "non-pros" are using this and it could be an interesting avenue to explore for those struggling to get more professional high end clients right now or for those just looking to try something new. Not paid by Canva. I don't know anyone there. I'm just not closed minded and Canva is the most popular design tool (yes, you can design in it) right now for the masses, wether you like it or not. Your favorite companies are already using it for social media btw.

Has anyone tried the Rabbit R1? I was extremely excited about it when it launched, but after watching the review / exposé by @coffeebreak_YT, I'm less enthusiastic. What's your take on it? Personal stories only.

Sometimes I wonder if we're designing our lives toward becoming the fitless humans from Wall-E: Maximum convenience at all costs!

Made it up to Whistler for opening day of the bike park…First time up here in 5ish years! Rode Crank It Up and did NOT feel comfortable in the air. made it out without any crashes, but definitely need more practice/conditioning/gradual exposure before hitting A-Line again.

Update: New MacBook Air still going strong. Considered maxing out the ram, but it’s good enough for the mix of UX and graphic design that I do

Wife’s perfectly good Bluetooth headphone snapped. Time for a bit of Kintsugi. With a bit of Ogham script thrown in.

I have to run about 2/3 of my hobbies like an escape from Colditz. Too much chaos and mess in the house, otherwise.

Hey cyclists. If you’re curious about whether @rapha clothing is worth it, I’m here to tell you it is. Their stuff outlasts anything I’ve ever bought. Period! Eg. I bought a Team Sky merino sweater 10 years ago. I’ve worn once a week For 10 years And it’s still my go to 🙌

In the UX design world, this dubious practice of coercing your customers into doing things they don’t want to do, but for your own benefit, is considered a dark pattern and it’s highly criticized.

Don’t you hate it when the bike industry changes specs forcing you to upgrade your bike instead of simply replacing the worn out parts (which are now extremely hard to find). This planned obsolescence should be frowned upon. It’s wasteful and no good for the planet either! 👎

If someonecomes along and checks all the boxes (academic pedigree + real world results) even better, but hey, 🦄

My hiring rule that always got results! Prioritize talent and experience over education. Real world scenarios never mimic academic literature. Thinking on your feet and getting results is all that matters. I’ve got years of results to support this
