@Uno_btc_sol Big assumption in there...
Investing anything for 25 years starting from 1929?
~0% return
Investing anything for 25 years starting from 1966?
~4% return
Yes, cherry-picked, but illustrate that you cannot assume a 10% return from the stock market.
@cleanwithmike Agreed, but think it is important to highlight that most who follow that path will struggle even with the "right model", because you also need to be the "right person" for entrepreneurship.
I think about this a lot:
People spend 4 years and $100k getting a degree to make $60k a year.
I spent $2,000 and 9 months building a business that now clears $40k a month.
The ROI on entrepreneurship is insane if you pick the right model.
@AnthonyGaenzle Hard work helps you be a great asset to the financial system... working smart helps you be a great asset for yourself.
Just working, working, working without pausing, observing and gaining clarity will slow most of us down on the path to our goals.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news.
If you want to succeed and anything (I mean anything) today, you have to work hard.
Sorry for those of you hoping success will land in your lap.
Name a "financially responsible" thing that's actually terrible advice.
I'll start: Renting is throwing money away. False.
Owning a depreciating home in a stagnant market is throwing money away.
@stijnnoorman I think most people, including myself when I was struggling, want wealth for the freedom it can bring. But there are also quite a few people who seem to want wealth not for freedom, but to impress others.
The financial system feels complex on purpose.
The more confused you are:
– the more you hesitate
– the more you depend on others
- the more you simply listen to "experts"
What else am I missing?
@AnthonyGaenzle - you get easily discouraged when things don't go as expected/hoped
- you don't view mistakes as learning opportunities
- you won't take action until things are "perfect"
Entrepreneurship isn’t for you if…
- consistent paychecks from day one make you smile
- predictability is your thing
- wearing one hat is more than enough for you
- your thoughts only live inside the box
What am I missing?
Results always look better in controlled environments.
That's why school doesn't prepare you for everything.
And why so many people approach investing and business with a rigid structure.
Real life takes flexibility and adaptability to survive.
Despite what you feel right now this too will past.
When it's all over your going to wish you enjoyed the ride a little more.
Especially in the times you over worried.
At 25 I worked at Google.
$100K salary.
Free meals.
Everyone impressed.
I was miserable.
At 27 I quit to manage Airbnbs.
Everyone thought I was insane.
At 33 I make 25x more and work 5 hours a week.
Sometimes the "crazy" path is the only sane one.
