There is already suave talk of posh Josh, who vacated his seat for Andy Burnham, being rewarded with a c£100k job in Burnham's No 10. The funeral bak'd meats, Horatio...

@hairyairey @ClarkeMicah 30 years ago the A61 east of Chesterfield was closed over the weekend so that the Victorian Horns Bridge edifice could be dismantled. The resulting huge mountain of bricks on the Monday morning had to be seen to be believed.

@ClarkeMicah Absolutely agree. A huge number of steel reinforced structures had a planned lifespan of 50 years (eg Gateshead flyover) which will have to be replaced. In the meantime we have brick built bridges over 200 years old that take the weight of 500 tonne trains regularly.

@JonathanNS1685 @ALucieSmith There are currently a number of difficult issues within the Church of England which she will have to navigate with care. It shows poor judgement and does not bode well for the future that she acts precipitately regarding this controversial matter.

@clivemacd @ALucieSmith Indeed, but that’s not surprising as it was the first ever such meeting. I don’t see why people are seemingly so hostile to ecumenical hospitality: what harm does it do? Surely conversations between Christian leaders are a good thing?

Why did Dame Sarah come to Rome? Why did she want to meet the Pope? Was her pilgrimage a tacit acknowledgement that she was seeking Apostolic legitimisation?

@ALucieSmith There has been a pattern of Archbishops of Canterbury meeting the Pope since Geoffrey Fisher in 1960. So it needs a bit of context.

@candvbmw Very interesting, although terrible colour for that car. Bought a new 518i in 1986 for £9800.

@NachoOliveras 50 years ago I had a three course lunch on the left bank for 5 francs. I remember the dessert was a small pot of jam. The bill was written on the plain paper tablecloth, when you got up to leave the tablecloth was screwed up and thrown away.

Rue de Mouffetard still caters cheap restaurants, more than ~20 years later, even if a kebab type of sandwich is now ~10 euros, prices more than doubled, reflecting the real estate prices. I guess a co-ordinated move to “upscale” the restaurant supply is just too difficult. 8/n

@clivemacd Hi Clive, it'll be best to speak with our customer service team for some further support with this. If you give us a call on 150 from a BT mobile, or 0330 1234 150 from any other phone, you'll be able to speak with a guide for help.

@bt_uk The login process to my BT account this morning was a bad experience. 20 minutes to log in going round and round with the same security questions.

There is no way the UK should be allowing the USA to use British bases to,carry out these attacks. They would be War Crimes. Please RT if you agree.🇬🇧

@Cornishview On higher ground you could see Rugeley, Drakelow, (very close to me) Willington and Ratcliffe power stations on a clear day, used to take coal to Rugeley from Silverdale mine back in the day, now building houses on Drakelow, remember when last cooling towers were demolished

In the 60's I worked as junior Engineer and dogsbody on many of the new Power Stations built by the river Trent and Notts Coalfields. Watching people cheering as they are demolished, with no alternative in place - really saddens me and illustrates the stupidity of virtue seeking Politicians. It used to take 7 years to build a big sation.

Wow! This is a real rarity in the UK, spotted & snapped in Morden, south London, earlier this morning. It’s a ’63 Mercury Monterey 4-door sedan, which was a ‘breezeway’ car, in other words it was equipped with a roll-down rear screen. It also had a 390cu in (6391cc) V8 engine. 💪
