a couple years ago i was on line for security at JFK around Christmas. line was so long that it ran down the hallway. this German dude who had to be at least 6’4” was cutting his way through the line dragging his girlfriend behind him and no one had the guts to tell him no. well. he got to me. and tried to cut me. i shoved my bag in front of him and said “excuse me” and he goes “oh our flight is about leave” and i said “every single person on this line is waiting for the flight to Frankfurt. i’m waiting for it. get the fuck to the back of the line.” dude was horrified. shrunk down like a little kid that got caught stealing candy and scuttled to the back of the line. did not know how to handle an aggressive northeastern woman in her natural habitat. best part was the little old German lady who saw it all go down and gave me a thumbs up and a nod. i gotchu Oma.

I love shaming rude people in public. The guy in front of me at the train station ticket window was raising his voice and I just went "ugh imagine it was your husband yelling at a teenage cashier" to the lady standing behind me and he suddenly knew how to speak like an adult.

@Jaylwnj @elaifresh Building upscale units allows those that can afford them to move, freeing up cheaper units elsewhere. This is well studied and well known; just _building_ helps everyone.
We could push for a certain % as low-income or rent geared to income, but makes it MORE controversial.

@elaifresh These caretakers can afford $4k+ studio waterfront apartments? Legit question, not trying to throw passive aggressive shade. From my own limited understanding this just looks like another lux apartment that isn’t really meant to alleviate the housing pressure.

@TracketPacer On a related note, a very smart programmer once tried to tell me how SMTP worked once. He was so, so, SO WRONG, but he sounded so confident and what he said seemed to make sense.

When the bosses at the top send the message that hitting quotas matters more than following the rules, discipline plummets. We are seeing the inevitable result of that at ICE.

CRAZY story. - Immigration judge grants man "voluntary departure," saying he must leave by June 11. - Man buys plane ticket for June 10, asks ICE to release him so he can board. ICE says no. He misses the plane. - ICE says he has a deportation order because he failed to depart.

Many said that the Supreme Court ended the Birthright Citizenship debate. They were wrong. That decision was not the end, as Churchill said, but the end of the beginning. @SenatorBanks has already introduced a bill that works within the new legal framework. Time to get to work!
