Five: the administration will not deport U.S. citizens and will codify its current practice of not knowingly detaining citizens except when they've violated the law. That's it. That's the offer. Body cameras. No raids at schools. Detention oversight. Agents identify themselves. Don't deport citizens. Democrats said no. Their counteroffer was so inadequate that the senior White House official called it "disappointing" and said the parties remain "far apart" — a month into the shutdown. Meanwhile their specific demands include requiring agents to unmask themselves during enforcement operations, which would directly endanger federal officers conducting operations against dangerous criminals and cartels. TSA workers are still not getting paid. Airport lines are still wrapping around terminals. Families are still missing flights. And Democrats are rejecting a five-point compromise that any reasonable person would consider a significant set of concessions from an administration that just won a landslide. Trump is right. This is not a negotiation. This is sabotage. Democrats do not want DHS funded. They want the chaos, they want the optics, and they want ICE neutered.
