Surprising results from the FRAIL-AF trial presented today at#ESC2023. Switching from VKA to DOAC ➡️ 69% higher rate of bleeding! Is this because the DOAC most used was rivaroxaban? Or do frail patients benefit from frequent INR checks & close monitoring?

@ccpractitioner The ICS has a guideline on it here ics.ac.uk/resource/cvc-g… which is endorsed by RCoR and SoR. Ultimately it says it can be used safely (with some qualifying statements).

Existing evidence for TLSO’s is poor. We need real world RCTs involving frail older inpatients with emphasis on outcomes such as compliance, PROMs, delirium, costs and mortality. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
